I would be interested to know the perspectives of WikiProject Years members for this proposed merge: Merge nomination for article "AD 12". My main argument is that dated written records are very sparse for many years in antiquity. Therefore, many of those "individual year" articles for the 1st century and earlier would not be expandable beyond stubs.

Note that I am consulting feedback in good faith. I wasn't sure how controversial a merger would be. SVG-image-maker (talk) 01:58, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Following Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/AD 12, we decided to launch Wikipedia:Decade merges essay, and have begun merging year articles in classical antiquity or earlier (up to c. AD 500) up into the decade level. This was done because the articles are often very short and inadequately sourced, and most dates in antiquity are not known precisely to the year — in particular, the absolute chronology of the ancient Near East is disputed. We also have plans to upmerge some of the earlier decades to centuries, and centuries to millennia. Currently, the earliest year article is 678 BC, the earliest decade article is 1790s BC, and the earliest century article is 40th century BC. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 01:36, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
