Stevens a traduit en anglais Pablo de Segovia the Spanish Sharper de Francisco de Quevedo, paru en 1798 puis à nouveau en 1892. Il a traduit plusieurs ouvrages d'histoire et de voyages de Quintana, ainsi qu'un autre ouvrage paru sous le titre The Most Entertaining History of Hippolyto and Aminta (2e édition en 1729). En 1715, il publie History of Persia, une traduction d'un ouvrage traduit en espagnol par Pedro Teixeira à partir de l'ouvrage de l'historien perse Mirkhond. En 1725-1726, Stevens publie General History of the Vast Continent and Islands of America, commonly called the West Indies, en 6 volumes (réimprimé en 1740), une traduction d'un ouvrage de Herrera. Il a aussi fait une compilation d'ouvrages rédigés par des auteurs espagnols sous le titre de New Collection of Voyages and Travels, publié en deux volumes en 1711, republié en 1719[2].
Stevens a traduit de l'espagnol à l'anglais plusieurs autres ouvrages :

Du français, Stevens a traduit en 1712 une partie de la Bibliothèque universelle des historiens de Louis Ellies Dupin et, en 1722, le livre III de l'Histoire des Révolutions en Angleterre sous la Famille des Stuarts de Pierre-Joseph d'Orléans[2].
Stevens a publié deux dictionnaires anglais-espagnol et une grammaire :
- A New Spanish and English dictionary, reprenant des informations d'auteurs espagnols, contemporains et anciens ; il a ajouté de nombreuses notes
