サム・ラスナー（Prince FoxもしくはJulien Tranq[1]）は、アメリカのニューヨーク州マンハッタン出身のDJおよびプロデューサーである。彼は3LAU（英語版）、Cazzette（英語版）、SNBRN（英語版）のリミックスを担当したのち有名になった。その後Casablanca Recordsの注意を惹いた。Casablanca Recordsはユニバーサル・ミュージック・グループの傘下にあり、運営はRepublic recordsの下で行われている。2015年にはCasablanca Recordsと契約を結んだ[2]。
初期のキャリア
フォックスはジョン・メイヤーに影響されてギターを弾くことからキャリアをスタートさせた[3]。エレクトロニックフェスティバルのElectricZooを訪れたのちエレクトロニック・ミュージックの制作を始めた[4]。ステージネームの"Prince Fox"は"The Litlle Prince"という本に登場する2人のキャラクター、プリンスとフォックスに由来する[5] 。フォックスはニューヨーク大学のSteinhardt Music Technology プログラムに参加した[6]。
音楽性
彼の音楽は"future pop"と評される[5][7] 。
キャリア
EPのMusingsは2015年10月にリリースされた[2]。シングルの“I Don’t Wanna Love You”はCasablanca Recordsからリリースされた[7][8][9][10][11]。彼はヘイリー・スタインフェルドとのコラボシングル"Fragile",をリリースした[12]。フォックスは本作の制作前に祖父を失っていた。 フォックスはこのコラボは"迷信的な"運命[訳語疑問点]だと語った。なぜならフォックスの祖父とスタインフェルドはおなじ誕生日(12月11日)であった。 "Fragile" は最初作詞家の友人Lil Aaronによって作成され、その後フォックスにより"future pop"と呼ばれる形式にアレンジされた。フォックスは曲をスタインフェルドに送り彼女はそれを自身の歌声に合うように修正した[13]。
Michelle Buzzとのコラボシングル"Oxygen" は肺癌でなくなった自身の祖母シャーリーからインスパイアされた。フォックスはこれは最もパーソナルで、身近で大切な曲だと語った[14]。
