ジョン・マクレガー

司祭である父の任地、バーミューダ島で生まれる。ほどなく英国に移り、ノーフォーク州で育つ。

ブラッドフォード大学卒業後、アルバイトをしながら小説を執筆。

2002年発表のデビュー長篇『奇跡も語る者がいなければ』がブッカー賞候補となり、一躍文学界の寵児に。

同作で、サマセット・モーム賞、ベティ・トラスク賞を受賞。

ソーシャルワーカーの妻とノッティンガムに暮らす。
