On December 3, Klieman announced that he would be retiring following the Wildcats' bowl game.[1] The following day, Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein, a former quarterback for the Wildcats, was named the program's new head coach.[2] Kansas State declined appearing in a bowl game due to their coaching change, player injuries, and transfers. This became the first time the Wildcats did not appear in a bowl game since 2020.[3][4]

The Kansas State Wildcats drew an average home attendance of 51,773, the 40th-highest of all college football teams.[5]
