The 2026 Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council election will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026, alongside other local elections in the United Kingdom. All 54 members of Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council in West Yorkshire will be elected following boundary changes.
Calderdale was created in 1974 as a metropolitan borough. The Conservatives held control until 1976, when the council fell into no overall control.[2] Labour formed their first majority in 1990 and remained the largest party until 1999.[3] The Conservatives last held a majority from 2000 to 2002; following over a decade of no overall control, Labour won a majority of seats in 2019 and have held control since.[4]
This election will be held on a new set of ward boundaries – as such, all seats will be up for election.[5] The number of thee-member wards has increased by one.
