Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff are in contention for the WTA No. 1 singles ranking. Rybakina can attain the No. 1 ranking regardless of other results if she reaches the semifinals. Sabalenka can retain the No. 1 ranking and Pegula and Gauff can attain it only if they win the title and Rybakina fails to reach the semifinals.

Seeded players

The following are the seeded players. Seedings are based on WTA rankings as of August 24, 2026. Rankings and points before are as of August 31, 2026.

Because the tournament takes place one week later this year, players are defending points from the 2025 US Open, as well as tournaments that took place during the week of September 8, 2025 (Guadalajara and Ljubljana WTA 125). Points from the 2025 US Open are listed first in the "Points defending" column.
