Agent Kim Reactivated (Korean: 김부장) is an upcoming South Korean revenge action television series written by Nam Dae-joong, director by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun, and starring So Ji-sub in titular role along with Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Joo Sang-wook, Son Na-eun, and Kim Sung-kyu. Based on the Naver webtoon Manager Kim by Jeong Jong-taek and Toy, the series follows an ordinary, hardworking head of a household who is forced to reveal his secretly hidden identity and risk everything to rescue his missing daughter. It is scheduled to premiere on SBS TV on June 26, 2026, and will air every Friday and Saturday.

Synopsis

Kim Do-hyeon also known as Manager Kim is a former secret agent living quietly as a single father and salaryman alongside his colleague, Sang-ah. When his daughter is kidnapped, Kim is forced to reveal his classified past to rescue her. His sudden resurgence draws the attention of Kang Guk-cheol, the director of the National Special Missions Bureau, who is tasked with tracking him down. During his search, Kim crosses paths with fellow former covert operators Seong Han-su and Park Jin-cheol, while facing opposition from construction company CEO Joo Kang-chan, Manager Nam, and a vengeful contractor named "Gold Tooth".

Production

Development

The Grimm Entertainment recently signed a drama production contract for the Naver webtoon Manager Kim with Fantagio in April 2023. The webtoon is a spin-off series centered around the character Manager Kim from Lookism, alongside Park Jin-cheol from My Life as a Loser [ko] and Seong Han-su from Viral Hit. The series marks a major expansion of the "One Source Multi-Use" (OSMU) strategy for the PTJ Universe.[6] It is described as a revenge-action drama revolving around a father who uses a dangerous skillset to rescue his daughter. Media and production sources have frequently compared its premise to the Hollywood film Taken.[2]

The script is written by Nam Dae-joong, known for his work on films such as The Last Ride (2016) and Homme Fatale (2019), and directed by Lee Seung-young, whose previous credits include Voice 2 (2018), Tracer (2022), and Wonderful World (2024). It is planned and produced by Studio S along with Fantagio.[7][8]

Casting

In September 2025, My Daily [ko] reported that So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, and Yoon Kyung-ho would lead the series as the central trio. So to take the titular role of Manager Kim and would mark his return to the action-noir genre, Choi to portray Seong Han-su, and Yoon transforms into Park Jin-cheol.[7] The next month, Kim Sung-kyu and Son Na-eun were reportedly joined the cast.[9][10] By the end of 2025, Joo Sang-wook, Lee Dong-ha [ko], and Jo Bok-rae were cast to play various villain roles.[11][4][3]

In May 2026, Won Hyun-jun [ko] was confirmed to join.[5] The same month, the appearances of So, Choi, Yoon, Joo, Son, and Kim were confirmed.[2]

Release

SBS confirmed that the series is slated to air in 2026, as part of their Friday–Saturday lineup.[8] The series was confirmed to premiere on SBS TV on June 26, and will air every Friday and Saturday.[2]
