History
Dateio was founded in October 2013 in Prague.[4] Its early work centred on using anonymised payment data for targeted marketing delivered inside banking applications. According to a 2020 Forbes Czech Republic profile, early adopters of the company's card-linked marketing system included major Czech banks such as Česká spořitelna, Air Bank, and UniCredit Bank.[5]
By 2017, the company had extended its operations to additional Central and Eastern European markets, including Hungary, Romania, and Croatia.[6] In 2021, Dateio was included in the Financial Times FT1000 list of Europe's fastest-growing companies.[7]
In 2018, Dateio launched Tapix, a platform for enriching raw payment transaction data, which represented a broadening of the company's focus from marketing services into financial data infrastructure.[8][9]
Products
Card-linked marketing and cashback
The Dateio Platform allows banks to integrate cashback offers within their digital banking applications. Cashback is credited following an eligible card purchase, according to rules set by the participating bank and merchant.[10] According to Euro.cz, Czech users had collectively earned more than one billion Czech crowns in cashback through partner banks' applications by 2022.[11] Banks reported to have implemented the platform include Česká spořitelna, Air Bank, K&H Bank, and OTP Bank. The service operates in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, and Italy.[12]
Tapix
Tapix, launched in 2018, is a transaction data enrichment service that processes raw payment records and supplements them with verified merchant information. According to IBS Intelligence, Swisscard integrated Tapix in 2022 to comply with the Mastercard AN4569 merchant-data standard.[13] The Austrian fintech Bitpanda also adopted Tapix to improve transaction visibility within its application. Localyse reported that Dutch challenger bank bunq used Tapix in combination with Google Maps services to enhance spending insights for its users.[14]
