Juha Miettinen (18 January 1960 – 18 April 2026) was a Swiss-born Finnish racing driver who most recently competed in the 2026 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie for Keeevin Motorsport. On 18 April 2026, he died after a seven car pile-up at the 2026 ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers, the first death at the Nurburgring since 2013.

Comment: He is probably notable, but the sources do not show it – with the exception of a database entry (not significant coverage), all of them are about the accident that killed him, and most of them say the same things which means some are superfluous. Early Life
Miettinen was born on 18 January 1960 in Verbier, Switzerland.[1] He competed under the Finnish flag during his racing career.
Career
Miettinen debuted in the VLN Endurance series in 2018, driving both a BMW E90 325i and a BMW E36 325i that year. In two races, he scored 3.65 points and finished 758th in the championship. The next year he competed in the ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hours, driving for Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport. He finished 5th in his class.[2]
In the same year, Miettinen competed in the VLN Series in the Production Car V4 class, driving a BMW E90 325i for MSC Wahlscheid. In eight races, Miettinen managed to score 37.58 points, enough to finish 20th in the championship. In 2020, Miettinen competed in the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie, in the V4 class. Driving for Keeevin Sports & Racing, MSC Wahlscheid e. V, he first scored 20.19 points in 5 races, finishing 15th in the championship. The same year he competed in the ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hours.
For the rest of his career, Miettinen competed in both the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie and Nurburgring 24 Hours annually. In 2023, driving for Keeevin Sports and Racing, he won the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie title in the V4 Class, finishing on the podium in all 9 races and winning three. In the 2024 Nürburgring 24 Hours, he finished 3rd in his class, and in the 2024 Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie, he finished 5th with two wins and five podiums in seven races. He scored 43 points. In 2025, he managed 3rd in the series, with 49 points and 8 podiums in 10 races.[2]
Death
On 18 April 2026, during qualifying for the 2026 Nurburgring 24 Hours, Miettinen was involved in a seven car pile-up at klostertal 25 minutes into the session, resulting in a red flag.[3][4] This was after several cars lost control on fluid leaked onto the track.[5] Six other drivers were treated for non-life threatening injuries, but Miettinen succumbed to his injuries in the circuit's medical centre after the incident.[6]
Four time Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen, who was preparing to race on the Nurburgring before the incident, expressed his shock on social media, stating, "Shocked by what happened today," and, "Motorsport is something we all love, but in times like this it is a reminder of how dangerous it can be. Sending my heartfelt condolences to Juha's family and loved ones."[7]
