Ramayana: Part 1 is an upcoming Indian epic mythological action-adventure film, serving as the first installment of a planned two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient Hindu epic, Ramayana, by Valmiki. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studious and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the film is one of the most ambitious and most expensive films ever made in Indian cinema.[1] It stars an ensemble cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol. It is the Hindi film debut of Kannada actor Yash.

Ramayana: Part 1 is expected to set the stage for the epic conflict by focusing on the early life of the Hindu diety Rama, his marriage to Sita, and the events leading to their exile for fourteen continuous year. The film introduces it's main leads, including Ravana, whose origin story is also featured, and builds up to the eventual conflict. The overall story is the immortal battle of good versus evil : Rama versus Ravana.

Plot Summary

It starts with the story of Rama, the son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya, helping Sage Vishvamitra in the defeat of demoness Tadka and then marrying Sita after breaking Shiva's bow during King Janaka's swayamvara, followed by exile to the forest for fourteen years along with Sita and Lakshmana on demands from his stepmother Kaikeyi, abduction of Sita by the demon king Ravana of Lanka on a ruse created around a golden deer, and a desperate search by Rama and Lakshmana.

Release

Ramayana: Part 1 will hit the theatres in November 2026 worldwide, coinciding with the Indian festival of Diwali. The film will be released in its original Hindi version and also in an English-language version.
