Leins is originally from Sacramento, California.[1]
Military career
Leins served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant in the civil engineering field, specializing in electrical systems. Reporting by the Las Vegas Sun identified her as stationed at Nellis Air Force Base and connected her service to the legal challenge over transgender military policy.[1]
Legal challenges and advocacy
In 2025, Leins became a plaintiff in Shilling v. Trump, a federal lawsuit challenging restrictions on transgender individuals serving in the United States military.[2]
The lawsuit was filed by Lambda Legal and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on behalf of transgender service members and applicants.[3]
According to reporting by the Las Vegas Sun, the policy directed the Department of Defense to revise medical and personnel standards affecting transgender service members.[1]
