The Republic of India will participate in the 2026 Asian Games, to be held in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan from 19 September to 4 October 2026. This will be India's twentieth appearance at the competition.
India is a member of the South Asian Zone of the Olympic Council of Asia and has participated in the Asian Games since their inception in 1951. The Indian Olympic Association was established in 1927 and recognised by the International Olympic Committee in the same year.[1] India was one of the first five founding members of the Asian Games Federation (now the Olympic Council of Asia), established in New Delhi on 13 February 1949. It was dissolved on 26 November 1981 and replaced by the Olympic Council of Asia.[2]
