Volante  United Kingdom The yacht was driven ashore and wrecked at Ryde, Isle of Wight. All twelve people on board were rescued by the Ryde Lifeboat Captain Hans Busk ( Royal National Lifeboat Institution).[68][69] Volante was refloated on 22 September and towed to Gosport, Hampshire by the paddle tug Camel ( United Kingdom). Palmer was on a voyage from Liverpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom to New York, United States.[14][158] She was subsequently discovered by Melrose ( United Kingdom), which put a skeleton crew on board.[159]
Delphin Hamburg The ship ran aground at Sunderland, County Durham, United Kingdom. She was on a voyage from Hamburg to Sunderland. She was refloated and beached.[142]
Guayaquil Flag unknown The steamship ran aground 18 nautical miles (33 km) south of San Antonio, Chile. She was refloated and taken in to Talcahuano, Chile.[160]
Prince of Wales  United Kingdom The steamship suffered a boiler explosion off the Bass Rock, in the Firth of Forth. Her passengers were taken off by a fishing boat. She was on an excursion from Stirling to the Bass Rock and back.[153]
