List of video games listed among the best
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following video games have appeared on various publications' lists of "best" or "greatest" video games of all time. Each game is included on best-of lists from at least six different publications, assembled by editorial staff or expert panels and not limited in scope by era, genre, or platform. Some lists reflect a publication's differing set of values as to what makes a given game "best". For instance, Hardcore Gaming 101 aimed to give a broad overview of many different types of games across the medium's history in its 2015 list,[1] while IGN based its 2021 list on how fun a game was at the present.[2]
Lists of best video games of all time are commonly produced by outlets that cover video games; game scholars Mark Kretzschmar and Sara Raffel commented in 2023 that nearly all such websites will publish multiple "Best Video Games Ever Made" lists.[3] This list's entries are compiled from over 100 different best-of lists, representing 59 unique publications.
