The King's Baton relay stopped in Malaysia in November 2025.[4][5] The Malaysian team consisted of 59 athletes (41 men and 18 women) competing in eight sports.[6][7] Para-athlete Abdul Latif Romly was the country's flagbearer during the opening ceremony.[8][9] Meanwhile, bowls athlete Emma Firyana Saroji was the baton bearer during the opening ceremony.[8]
Despite the exclusion of traditional gold mine sports particularly badminton, Malaysia recorded its' second-highest gold medal count for participation outside the home soil. The eight-gold medal haul was only behind the 2010 edition where the country won twelve.
