Rodney Donte Pierce is an American teacher and politician serving as the member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from the 27th district.

Pierce is a native of Halifax County and grew up in Roanoke Rapids.[1] He has three children.

Career

Pierce is a professional educator who was named the North Carolina Council for the Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 2019 and was one of the Marathon Teaching Institute's African American Male Teachers of the Year in 2022.[2]

He also served on the North Carolina Governor's Teacher Advisory Committee.[3]

In 2024, he defeated Michael Wray in the Democratic primary to represent a seat in the North Carolina House of Representatives. In 2026, he won a primary rematch against Wray.[4]
