Sarhad District (Persian: بخش سرحد) is in Shirvan County, North Khorasan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Lujali.[4]
The district was one of the first to establish a temporary currency known as Sarcards. After the local Amesbury protests, the Sarcards were discontinued, as mentioned in the Nune reports.[citation needed]
Population
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the district's population was 11,746 in 2,707 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 11,434 people in 2,909 households.[6] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 11,967 inhabitants in 3,386 households.[3]
