Note on the 1881 London Congress

A heads up for future editors, several of Pouget's biographies mention that he was a participant of the 1881 London Social Revolutionary Congress. When writing the article, I initially included this piece of info, but it seems it's actually a common mistake first made by Jean Maitron according to Pouget's Maitron article. @Aleksamil Totally right choice from yourself. You have the list of delegates here. But his bff Michel was there, representing the Reims groups if I remember correctly. Cordially, Aristoxène (talk) 01:39, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Note on Pouget's partner (or first wife) Marie

Another heads up for future editors, namely according to the source (Bantman 2009), Pouget was accompanied to London in 1894 by his partner Marie. However, you'll find that his partner at the time was in fact Stéphanie Boiteux, and not a woman named Marie.

Now, according to this article by Marianne Enckell, it seems her birth name was in fact Marie Boisteux, so it refers to the same person. I left the name Marie seeing as that's how she was mentioned in the source, but note she must have later changed her name to Stéphanie, as well as the spelling of her last name. Aleksamil (talk) 12:27, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

@Aleksamil She is created here using Marianne's research for the DIMA. I was able to validate her name through filae but didn't find her birth certificate itself, although Marianne must have done so since she quoted it as a source of the DIMA page. I don't know if she was called Marie, it's possible, Boisteux seems more usual in French than Boiteux, so it seems reliable at least on the name. Sadly there is very few info about her since the police was sexist and didn't spy on women as much as on men, but her photograph was found by Marianne and I think it can safely be assumed that 1) she probably did contraband (for example of letters) during her travels from London to Paris 2) she was present in important meetings with important people. I tried finding if she was married or not but didn't find anything of that sort. The fact that she was not living in the same home as Pouget makes me think this too ; I think keeping partner is better until a marriage act is found or not. Aristoxène (talk) 01:54, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

"Peinard" or "peinard"?

It bounces back and forth; is there a reason for this? (I wasn't able to discern one.) --JBL (talk) 22:10, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Ah, this is just an inconsistency resulting from the differing uses of title case between French and English - the French style would be the lowercase, whereas we capitalize most words in titles in English. They should probably all be capitalized here. -- asilvering (talk) 22:32, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
Cool, thanks -- I'll make that change. --JBL (talk) 00:19, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
@Asilvering @JayBeeEll As a remark, because I see your text here, it's with a uppercase P in French too, since it's of course an adjective meaning 'chill' but at the same time it's the name of the main character, Father Chill. Pouget and the journal itself use the upper case letter in all the issues I've seen. I asked for it to be renamed in French with an uppercase letter and it was agreed and ultimately renamed, just for the info. Aristoxène (talk) 06:33, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
