Wikiproject Proposal

I've proposed a Panic! at the Disco Wikiproject here, to see how many people would be interested before starting one. The project would be an effort by a group of Wikipedians to build and improve all Panic! at the Disco pages (including members of the band, songs and albums). If you think that you'd be reguarly editing these pages, please put your name down at this page so we can see who would be interested in the project. Thanks in advance- CattleGirl talk | sign! 11:40, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Um, I don't think you did. You just put a link to this page, instead of actually making a proposal page... The SOAD Fan (talk) 01:37, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

In the panic! Page they have classed it as "emo" music but I love panic! And I'm definitely not an emo. And Brendon has said countless times that his music is not emo music it is rock. D.shennan16 (talk) 06:50, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

@D.shennan16: Emo is sourced. I don't see why so many people have a problem with emo as a genre. We are not going to remove emo just because you love this band and you are not an emo. Bowling is life (talk) 11:08, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Jon Walker?

Jon didn't play bass on the record brendon did. in fact jon didnt become associated with panic until about a year after the album's release. i dont have an account so will some one else please edit that part of the article?

thats what i was wondering too. why did someone put that there if he wasn't associated with them when they recorded the album. PrincessOfHearts 21:30, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Removal: The title of "Build God, Then We'll Talk" is a quote from Choke.

Ok, so I've read the novel Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. The phrase "Build God, then we'll talk" or any combo of those words is not in the novel. Just to be sure, I even downloaded a copy of the novel and did a search for "God" and "build", no phrase is close at all. I've asked around online and so far no one can provide me with a page number for the phrase or a similar phrase. I think, since its not really a phrase in the novel Choke, that this "tidbit" needs to be removed. Wanted to make sure everyone else agrees or at least doesn't disagree before I did it, so (if I remember) I'll remove it in a week unless a majority object... Jedispyder (talk) 08:22, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't see any references to Fight Club in Camisado. There's references to hospitals and the word fight is used, but I hardly think that counts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.76.141.100 (talk) 10:18, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. Trivial Stuff Not Needed

The music video on YouTube called "There's a Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought of It Yet" shows clips featured from Hercules, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Little Mermaid, Anastasia, Aladdin, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty.

Commerical performance

i messed the commercial performance section of the article and don't know how to fix it. i apologize for any inconvenience Ded Meem (talk) 15:32, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Never mind, I fixed it. Ded Meem (talk) 15:59, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

"The Only Difference" single status

So there was an editor that tried making some changes to this article that recently got blocked as a sockpuppet. We know that at this point; their edits were undone. But there's one thing they tried to change that I think we should reinstate and that's the single status of "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage". Checking the Discogs page (not to cite it in the article at a source obviously) for the song shows that the release was most definitely promotional and not a commercial single. I also can't seem to find any sourcing regarding the song ever being a single, although I can't find anything about being a promotional single either, so this really just boils down to our own editorial standards over at WP:SINGLE?. Though at least to classify it as promotional we can cite the release itself. So that would mean removing it from the infobox singles list, altering the lead, and changing the infobox parameters at the song article itself. @Bowling is life and Binksternet:, thoughts? λ NegativeMP1 00:20, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

Producer Matt Squire is quoted by Mix magazine saying, "It’s never been officially added at radio... Radio stations picked it up on their own volition." It's not a single, just a volunteer.  :^)
That Mix source also has more recording details. Binksternet (talk) 01:22, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
Well, that's interesting! So it's neither, then? Just classify it as a song like normal?
And regarding the lead, we can do something like "While never officially released as a single, 'The Only Difference [...]', also received airplay and charted in the United States"...? Considering it charted on the Hot 100 I think it has to be mentioned in the lead, even if not a proper single. Not sure though. λ NegativeMP1 01:31, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
Sure thing. Let's tell the reader everything we know about the song. Binksternet (talk) 15:00, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
@Gavetheman555: Since you just nominated this article for GAN, I think you should see this discussion and probably make adjustments to the article accordingly. λ NegativeMP1 21:00, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
I ment to make some sort of change to this article regarding Martyrdom's status while i was doing my rewrite to the first half but got completely sidetracked and forgot to do it, but regarding its status, ill go ahead and implement the changes previously discussed if that seems to be the right course of action. Pre-GA Notes

@Gavetheman555: Hey there! I came by this article while taking a look at what GA nominations were around, and wanted to leave some notes because I personally think this article, while decently bulky, has some pretty large gaps as it stands. As a note, most of this feedback is coming from MOS:ALBUM, which I would highly recommend reading for album articles like this one.

  • Songs should be summarized in the Composition section of album articles. Some great examples of this are the FAs Born to Run and Eternal Blue (album); notice how every song is given at least a sentence summarizing its genre/style, lyrical meaning, inspiration, etc. I say this bc I see some songs have no mention in the section (e.g. "Camisado", despite it being certified gold).
  • Critical reception sections must summarize the album's reviews in prose form, as "a review cannot be accurately boiled down to a simple rating out of five stars or other scoring system". As it currently stands, there are several reviews cited in the table which are not in the reception section itself. Also highly recommend checking out WP:RECEPTION, to this end.
  • There is an uncited sentence in the article: "It also is the group's first release with touring keyboardist Eric Ronick and their only release with touring cellist Bartram Nason".

Good luck with you nomination. Leafy46 (talk) 01:27, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi there! Thank you so much for your advice on how to improve the article as i am a fairly new GA nominator, i've taken most the points you've addressed and executed them, i think i'll tackle the critical reception section tomorrow as it is fairly late for me as i am writing this, but once again thank you for your feedback! :) Gavetheman555 (talk) 03:30, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
Yeah, of course. I hope I didn't come across as too harsh or anything, I'm just tryna help make sure that this article has as good a chance of passing so you don't get stuck in a dreaded WP:FIXLOOP :) Leafy46 (talk) 03:53, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

Classic. This was one of the CDs I had in permanent rotation in my Ford Escape as a teenager. Eventually, I planned on making a GA out of this, but it looks like you beat me to the punch. Disclaimer: I believe I've edited this page before, but if I have, it's been years and the article has changed significantly.

Overview

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

At a glance, this article looks like it might have some organization issues. I'll look at this in more depth later today and into the next couple days.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear, concise and understandable to an appropriately broad audience, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation:
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline:
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose):
    C. It contains no original research:
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic:
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style):
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each:
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute:
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:

Initial tool checks

  • Ran citation bot on the page, made minor fixes including adjusting MOS:CURLY marks, retitling some old references, and changing one {{Cite web}} to magazine. Please let me know if you have any questions about that edit.
  • Four dead links found. Please mark the Las Vegas Review-Journal citation, the Kerrang! top 50 list, the Billboard double-platinum article, and the Fuse tenth anniversary interview as "dead" in the template. I would recommend using InternetArchiveBot on this page to archive anything that hasn't been yet – the link dispenser tool says you have 10 of them.
  • Marked the provided links dead, however I am a little confused with what you mean by "The link dispenser tool says you have 10 of them." 10 of what? Gavetheman555 (talk) 18:31, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • 10 unarchived live links, sorry. It's just good practice to protect them from link rot, especially on something you're trying for GA on. mftp dan oops 19:53, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Went ahead and archived 10 additional refs, if they needed to be specific let me know and ill quickly archive them :) Gavetheman555 (talk) 21:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • No copyvio issues, despite five matches in the yellow. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt in those cases, they all are quoted material and these absurdly long song titles don't help the matter. mftp dan oops 18:01, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

Lead

Saving for last because it depends on the rest of the article's content. mftp dan oops 17:06, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

Background

  • The Allmusic reference does not state that the band is from Summerlin.
    • In the event that you do find a reference which verifies that, the sentence needs work anyway. Instead, I would write it as "Panic! at the Disco was formed in 2004 by high school friends Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith in Summerlin, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas", or something that doesn't smash the two together.
  • I added another source to support the Las Vegas origin and shortened it to just Las Vegas, as I could not find a source for the Summerlin claim. Gavetheman555 (talk) 21:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Interesting: ref 1 says the name was inspired by Name Taken, which seems to be corroborated by multiple other sources including Ryan Ross himself. However, ref 4 (perhaps erroneously) states it was inspired by "Panic" by the Smiths. Worth mentioning in a footnote maybe? Thoughts?
  • Hmm, a footnote isn't the worst idea in the world, any ideas as to how it would be worded? Gavetheman555 (talk) 21:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Opening sentence of paragraph two is trying too hard to be wordy. Put the subject – the demos – in front of the verb. We know they're early demos, we read that in the first clause.
  •  Done Slightly reworded to make it flow better. Gavetheman555 (talk) 21:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • "Two to three" songs being heard fails verification from the citation. The good news is it seems all of it is covered in ref 9, so you can just delete the second instance of 8 as it stands now.
  • A sentence shouldn't start with a quote in the body of a Wikipedia article. I'm not saying you can't use it, but it needs rearrangement.
  • Is this referring to Urie's quote in the Composition section? If so I removed it for now since I had a bit of a tough time trying to make it fit into the section. If I can find a way to successfully reword it I'll add it back in. Gavetheman555 (talk) 21:35, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
  • I was referring to the Ross quote in this section, not composition, actually. You full stop at bashing the group, then go into quoting Ross, stop in the middle, then continue; I'd prefer if you didn't do this. This is common style in news writing, but on Wikipedia it is not. mftp dan oops 13:39, 21 July 2026 (UTC)
  •  Done Rearranged and removed first part of the quote since I couldn't successfully figure out a way to make it fit in without sounding too clunky. Gavetheman555 (talk) 14:15, 22 July 2026 (UTC)
