The result of the move request was: moved. Despite a lack of firm opposition or support for the move, evidence was presented that "Kankuamo" is at least present in two English-language sources, whereas no evidence was presented to affirm "Atanque" as the name used in any English-language sources. Of the sources currently cited in the article, two call this language "Atanques", one calls it "Atánquez", and two call it "Kankuamo". Since none call it "Atanque", it seems plausible that this article should be moved, but it's not clear to me that "Kakuamo" is the right destination. jlwoodwa (talk) 19:57, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
It is. The community which used to speak it is called Kankuamo, so per WP:NCL they should be the same. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 19:59, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Naming conventions (languages) § Languages and their speakers starts with Where a common name exists in English for both a people and their language. Therefore, for it to apply, we first need to establish that "Kankuamo" is a common name in English for this language. Neither of the two sources in this article that call it "Kankuamo" are in English. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:10, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
@Jlwoodwa and Glottolog both use "Kankuamo". Most sources on this language are not in English. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 23:33, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
