Change emboldened name to 'George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr.' as stated in his biography. Cronchconch (talk) 10:45, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Not done See MOS:JR and the discussion here. He is referred to as Jr. in the main article referring to his name at birth.--Wehwalt (talk) 11:47, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Greatest of all time

We had this discussion on Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan in Basketball so i think it's fair to have it here.

Are you in favor of Babe Ruth's page calling him the greatest of all time, or should we make it "one of the greatest of all time"

Never17 (talk) 00:51, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

Babe Ruth the 🐐 lol but in all seriousness to reach consensus for this article and any others you might want to change, I’d suggest posing this question in the talk page of Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 02:34, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

Questionable edit

GOAT Bones231012, on this edit, I still do not see all the matters that you have added supported by the sources you have added. Among other things, I do not see that Ruth held "esteemed" records, including pitching, as well as many of the statistics you do cite, and that Ruth remains in the top ten in these records. If you cannot fix this with inline citations, showing what is cited to what, I will remove it again. And please use edit summaries, by the way.--Wehwalt (talk) 20:06, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

@Wehwalt I actually didn’t even see that it said "pitching", I’ll remove that now. As for the batting records mentioned that he held at the time of his retirement, they are all in the references. Home runs, RBI, Slugging, and base on balls in the first reference and on-base percentage in the second reference. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 21:24, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
See the following copy and pasted from the first reference: "His .690 career slugging average remains the highest in history. When he retired, his 714 home runs, 2,174 runs, 2,211 RBI and his 2,056 walks ranked at the top of the all-time list." And then you already admitted in a previous edit of mine that the other reference mentions his on-base percentage. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 21:29, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
@Wehwalt I can replace the first reference with the following if you’d like, just let me know.

I'm not telling you what to use but the entire text of the paragraph must be confirmed by what you choose to use. As you are aware, this is a Featured Article and we can't take shortcuts. Wehwalt (talk) 06:37, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
No problem, I have added a single reference which mentions all of them. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 12:47, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Ruth's eye pain

This article has long stated that Ruth suffered pain above his left eye, based on a medical source I don't have access to. It has recently been changed to "in" his eye followed by "behind" it, based on a PBS source. I am loathe to change text that relies on a medical source, based on a general source like PBS. Perhaps we should consult the Resource Exchange and see if we can obtain a copy of the medical source. Wehwalt (talk) 13:00, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

A review of the talk page archives reveals we discussed this matter in 2017, though regrettably the link to a copy of the article does not work for me. But you can see that specific language about the eye was asked for.--Wehwalt (talk) 13:07, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
@Wehwalt. I honestly believe you should go with what makes you happy. Wherever Ruth felt the pain, he felt it ... it's all about the wording the future writer comes up with, so I found a source instead. I admit, 'behind' the eye is a bit weird, 'above', I understand. I'm not going to tinker with this matter any longer. Maybe we'll all end on a good note here. Bringingthewood (talk) 21:59, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
It is not about making me happy. I'm approaching my 20th anniversary here and if what I suggest prevails, great, if not, I can live with that too. It's all about giving the reader the best possible content. That's what is important. Thanks for your understanding. Wehwalt (talk) 22:38, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
I figured as much right after I sent that last response. I did mean, 'making the article happy through you'. I wasn't going to edit myself, but I knew it was coming. I have a gift ... I manage to have people see things out of context after I express myself, lol. I do know what you mean and I thank you for understanding also. We'll probably catch up again one day. The best going forward. Bringingthewood (talk) 22:50, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
FWIW, the JADA article describes the pain in two ways: "intense left retro-orbital pain", and then later "pain around the eye". Nikkimaria (talk) 05:47, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

Babe ruth hit his first professional home run in Toronto. The original post talks about intersquad game that wasn't an actual registered game.

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. meamemg (talk) 17:11, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
