High Importance
i believe that Bad Piggies should be of High Importance because it's not obscure — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jowee the Raposa (talk • contribs) 05:26, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

Everything about the article clears the criteria very well, as it was just promoted to GA status today. However, as much as I do not like the WP:DYKFICTION criteria for hooks, I do think since both ALT0 and ALT1 refer to in-game canon/gameplay, this hook would fail that criteria. If another editor/reviewer wants to give that a second opinion, for sure feel free, but I think a new hook idea will probably have to be made here. Soulbust (talk) 02:16, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- I definitely agree with Soulbust that both hooks fail WP:DYKFICTION. Even without that, I think the hook isn't interesting as in video games, its often the case where you initially have do it yourself, but later gets easier/shorter or done automatically. JuniperChill (talk) 22:05, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
- Actually, WP:DYKFICTION excludes video game mechanics (as in gameplay itself), although in practice the line can be blurry between mechanics and plot points. However, given the objections raised above, maybe a new hook is needed either way. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:11, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Ah my mistake, these particular hooks did feel like a blurry situation to me, since the pig mechanic being hired seem like a plot point as well. But if that criteria excludes gameplay mechanics, then the hooks should be fine, at least in my opinion but will wait to see on what alternative hooks can be made here. Soulbust (talk) 01:37, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- I forgot that it specifically excludes gameplay mechanics (per the last paragraph). I remember nominating (but not creating) Time Flies for DYK about the fact that it almost got pushed back regarding the mechanics of that game (although the fact that it can be beaten in <2 hours definitely got pushed back since I didn't think about speedruns). Perhaps the only other hook I could think of is that Bad Piggies got 100m downloads, but its not uncommon for mobile games back in the day (before 2020) to reach that or significantly go over that amount? Maybe we need a 3rd opinion on alt0/1. JuniperChill (talk) 18:28, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Just a suggestion, as it'd be a shame if this article doesnt go on DYK
- ALT2: ... that an Angry Birds game promotes the use of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics?
- taken from the lead Finnfrog99 (talk) 21:37, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- @SleepyRedHair, Dragonhawk12, Soulbust, and Finnfrog99: ALT2 is only mentioned in the lead, is not mentioned in the body, and is not directly sourced. If we are to go with ALT2, those need to be addressed. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:43, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, yesterday I removed the aformentioned lead sentence for the reasons cited above. Probably should have mentioned that here sooner, so my apologies for that. If it's ok, I'd like to pitch another alts I think could work:
- ALT3: ... that a counterfeit Angry Birds spinoff game was removed for containing malware? Source: https://uk.pcmag.com/opinion/14846/bad-piggies-android-malware-pulled-from-google-play

- As currently written, that's misleading since it suggests that it's Bad Piggies, rather than the fake "Bad Pigs" game, that is counterfeit. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 08:43, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
- Remedying that with ALT3a: ... that a counterfeit of an Angry Birds spinoff game was removed for containing malware? As a side note, the link to the source indicates it being in an opinion piece, but it redirects to a news article when I open it? What is exactly happening there? Also not entirely sold on the merits of it being interesting. Man, this hook brings back the strange memories of when I decided to 100% the game in 2023 and 2024, alien parts and all. 1brianm7 (talk) 04:54, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
