German and French versions

Hi Melly42! The reason I didn't add it originally was because there weren't really many details about them, but there is a little now, so I have added a couple of sentences at the bottom. If more information becomes available there might be enough to do seperate articles for each of them, but there is nowhere near enough at the moment, Thanks for the suggetsion! The German version was recorded this Monday (a list of contenders can be find at www.bild.de), the French version is still in preparation (only Carla Bruni is corfirmed so far, Daft Punk and Johnny Hallyday might also take part). --Melly42 (talk) 11:10, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Profits

80.229.154.174 I'm not quite sure what your point is. It might not be perfect, but if you do't like something, go and find more details about it, and edit it yourself. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but when the article was initally written details were sketchy. and I'm still not sure what exactly they are going to do with the money. But, like I say, if you know what they are doing, feel free to edit it yourself. At the moment it is vague, but correct. Piandme (talk) 21:02, 20 November 2014 (UTC)

80.229.154.174 It doesn't matter if I did. If you don't like it, edit it yourself. That is the whole modus operandi of Wikipedia! All I know is that I don't feel I need, or particularly want to edit it, but that isn't stopping anyone else, who ar more than welome to make improvements. Band Aid is a well established charity and as such it is used to working out how to turn donations into action in a number of countries through work with partners etc. The statement seems a fair summary to me, but as details come in a section on this might be appropriate. Helicopter trip

In the UK, there was some media criticism of rich celebrities – some with questionable tax affairs - asking ‘ordinary’ people to give to charity via Band Aid 30. Examples of the debate include, for instance: http://www.theguardian.com/theobserver/2014/nov/15/should-band-aid-be-resurrected-debate and http://www.theguardian.com/media/mediamonkeyblog/2014/nov/17/bob-geldof-cut-off-by-sky-news-for-saying-bollocks-twice. Of course, the charitable cause itself was beyond criticism and no one wanted to undermine the efforts to support it.

However, moments after taking part in recording a song calling on people to make a donation to ‘heal the world’ and ‘feed the world’ vBlogger Alfie Deyes saw no contradiction in flying in a private helicopter to a multi-millionaire’s private country estate for lunch and admiring the indoor swimming pool, arcade games room, home cinema etc. He posted the film himself, so the facts aren’t in doubt. The contradiction was addressed directly by Private Eye magazine and more obliquely referred to as “The Band Aid supergroup show us their bizarre behind-the-scenes helicopter trip to the head of Freud Communications, Matthew Freud's, enormous house. It has Vespas, pigs and strawberries” on the New Statesman website http://www.newstatesman.com/media-mole/2014/11/watch-bizarre-band-aid-behind-scenes-video. It was also reported by less reliable sources eg http://www.buzzfeed.com/richardhjames/youtube-stars-record-band-aid-30-single-then-jump-in-helicop

I propose adding something along the lines of the following: “Immediately after the recording, Deyes filmed video footage of him and friends travelling by private helicopter from the recording studios to lunch at Burford Priory, an Oxfordshire country estate owned by Matthew Freud. The video also showed a tour of the estate’s swimming pool, arcade machines, home cinema and extensive farmland”.^[1]^[2]

I do. It has nothing to do with Band Aid - put it on the person's page if it is notable. If the whole group had gone on a field trip then this would be relevant; what each member did before or after is just media tittle-tattle. The statement "Of course, the charitable cause itself was beyond criticism and no one wanted to undermine the efforts to support it." is disingenuous - why, you may ask, if this is the case - is the criticism of the tax affairs of pop stars being discussed only when they have just produced a charity record? Nobody seems to have a problem with them calling on 'ordinary' people to buy their records or go to their concerts. WP should be very careful of over emphasizing media criticism which is self-serving - a single sentence is sufficient. Btljs (talk) 09:12, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
