Talk to me, Andy Mabbett

  • If you post a message on this page, I'll reply on this page to avoid fragmenting the discussion.
  • If I've left you a message on your talk page, I will be watching it, so please reply there rather than here (but do feel free to drop a copy of {{Talkback}} here).
  • If appropriate, I will move discussion from here to the relevant article's talk page, so that anyone interested can join in.
  • If you want to start a new discussion thread, please start it at the bottom of the page. Better still, use the "new section" tab next to the "edit this page" tab, or the link at the foot of this section, either of which will do that automatically.
  • Please do not make links from within section headings.
  • Inaccessible HTML (coloured text, "small" tags, etc.) will be removed from this page on sight. Broken heading or list structures will be fixed.
  • Please sign and date your entries (by inserting four tildes (~~~~) at the end if needed.
  • Start a new discussion.

Of the four topics I helped to bring to the main page, I'm most proud of a woman's work, so made it my story. As it happens, last year's story OTD was about the woman. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:57, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

archiving

You edited the Grokipedia talk page here. A detail confuses me: "= old(28d)". The help page Help:Archiving a talk page says "Article talk page threads should not typically be archived in less than 30 days except for very busy talk pages." Is the help page worthless (which wouldn't surprise me), or is it right to consider the talk page "very busy" given its recent history, or am I ignorant about algos and you can enlighten me? Peter Gulutzan (talk) 15:23, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Right at the top of that talk page is a banner including the text "[This page] explains concepts or processes used by the Wikipedia community. It is not one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, and may reflect varying levels of consensus." Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:44, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
Okay, I take it that you deem the help page worthless (which I suggested wouldn't surprise me). Since there's nothing else to explain 28d, though, I'll increase it to 30. Peter Gulutzan (talk) 17:35, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
