List of entertainment affected by the September 11 attacks → ? – The current title is the equivalent of having a Wikipedia article titled List of education affected by the COVID-19 pandemic instead of Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education.

The previous RM discussion a few months back failed to establish consensus in either direction. I think that, if I had avoided specifying a new name, then those who would've supported the general idea (but opposed the particular name I proposed) wouldn't have found it difficult to figure out how to cast an honest !vote, so I figured I'd open another discussion of this nature to give such users another chance to say something or suggest different alternative titles.

As some opponents argued that the current title should be kept because the article is a list, I recently tried to start an RfC discussion to figure out where consensus would stand on converting this article to prose, but that was quickly shut down because title-changing was brought up alongside unlistification. • The current title is an abomination and should be changed. Impact of the September 11 attacks on the entertainment industry or Impact of the September 11 attacks on media would be improvements but I wonder if we could do better. The former is already a redirect here. All these titles raise questions of scope. The article essentially covers immediate impacts. For films, which have a longer development cycle, there are impacts discussed for releases through 2002 and 2003. The attacks and subsequent war on terror had longer-lasting impacts on storytelling and media that seem beyond the scope of this article. There's probably not a good title that addresses that and it may not be necessary. I'm not sure if "entertainment industry" is the right umbrella term but I suppose it broadly covers everything in the article. —Myceteae‍🍄‍🟫‍(talk) 21:42, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

"longer-lasting impacts on storytelling" With events like the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal, there are both direct depictions in fiction and stories influenced by these narratives several decades later. I doubt that war on terror-related narratives will simply fade away, even if they are no longer fashionable. But we have to draw the line somewhere on what is a direct impact of an event and what is a convenient setting for historical fiction. Dimadick (talk) 06:48, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Impact of the September 11 attacks on the entertainment industry is a dramatic improvement. There's certainly sufficient prose to justify a non-list article, and prose could be expanded as evidenced by the draft cited by nom. estar8806 (talk) ★ 20:15, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
