A trout for you

Oaktree b has given you a WikiTrout! Trouts promote WikiFun and hopefully this one has made your day more fun. Spread the WikiFun by giving someone else a trout, especially when they are doing something silly. Happy slapping! Issued for the corny pun in the Cassidy Early AfD.
Spread the fun of trouts by adding {{subst:Troutalt}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message!

Question from Gaurav2506 (06:45, 29 June 2026)
- Note: Gaurav2506's mentor SnowyRiver28 is away.
i have just create a page on "Public Cyber Security Awareness". Help me out to build this page for general public so i can aware them with simple and understandable language. --Gaurav2506 (talk) 06:45, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Gaurav2506 – I see your draft at Draft:Public Cyber Security Awareness. It has several WP:Signs of AI writing, did you use an AI chatbot to produce your draft? This is prohibited per WP:NEWLLM, I would recommend rewriting the draft in your own words to increase its chance of being accepted. 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 15:34, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
Question from Kuro the wiki master (21:06, 3 July 2026)
Hi Maddie, what's your favourite historical event in that case? --Kuro the wiki master (talk) 21:06, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Kuro the wiki master! It's hard to pick just one, but given that it just passed, I'd have to say the Battle of Gettysburg is up there as a historical event I find fascinating. 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 04:12, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Israel has a right to defend itself

Hello, Wasianpower. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Israel has a right to defend itself".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 16:44, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard
Hi, Wasianpower. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please take the § Survey when you get there! Mathglot (talk) 00:24, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
Question from WinterInJuly (19:38, 14 July 2026)
Hello! I'm new to editing Wikipedia, but definitely not reading Wikipedia, or being interested in the idea of editing it! I'm already working on some of the suggested edits, and I'm having a blast. I didn't realize it could be so fun/easy to learn!
Mainly, I have a question about "backlog" stuff! I read a lot of stuff on Wikipedia at the teahouse, and different Wiki main pages before I made my account (I'm autistic, so I really wanted to figure out what the energy/vibe is before I went in and actually signed up - I'm a curious person, but a bit of a nervous one!) - one topic that really interested me was the COI edit request backlog! The process really fascinated & interested me.
I assume that the COI backlog itself would be too daunting a task for a fresh & new editor to jump right into (I want my edits to be helpful, not disruptive!), so I wanted to know if there's any other backlog stuff that would be helpful, but easy enough for a newbie, to sort through & handle!
Many thanks for your help! I'm very excited to keep working, and hopefully helping! --WinterInJuly (talk) 19:38, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @WinterInJuly! What a great question, we are super excited to have you editing with us. WP:BACKLOG has a list of backlogs and the state that they're currently in – I think the COI backlog might be a little daunting for your first big task, but there is no special permission required to address it. If you want to try a couple examples with my help I'd be more than happy to go through that with you. As far as other backlogs, some ones that might be more beginner friendly could be adding references (Category:Articles lacking sources), cleaning up dead links (Category:Articles with dead external links) andk, if you want one that would help you build towards the COI edit requests, cleaning up promotional wording (Category:Articles with a promotional tone). The last one might be good since it shows you what to look for with COI edits, as that's the source for most promotional tone issues. If you'd like to run through some together as practice let me know and I'd be happy to help! Happy editing! 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 19:48, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oooh, yes, articles with a promotional tone is exactly the thing I was interested in revising! I'm currently working through the "easy" suggested edits to build up some knowledge & confidence, and then I'll check all of these backlogs to see what I can do. I'm not sure how much I can get to this week, but I've been told that it's best to take things slow & careful than quick & careless. :)
- If/when I do end up cleaning up something, for example, in articles with a promotional tone, is there anything that I should do to potentially remove it from that page, or change its marking on the backlog, or would that occur automatically, or be something somebody else would do? I for sure would appreciate running through any of these for practice together as well, that's super kind of you to offer! WinterInJuly (talk) 19:54, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- @WinterInJuly Good question! Using promotional tone for an example – most of these articles are in this category because they've been tagged with the promotional tone template, which in the source code looks like
{{promotional}}or{{advert}}at the top of the article. Once you've cleaned up the article to your satisfaction, you can remove the tag from the article, and it will be automatically removed from the backlog. - Taking things slow is never a bad idea! Wikipedia is a marathon, not a sprint. Whenever you're ready to go through an article together, feel free to ping me here. We can pick an article from the backlog together, and walk through what some steps would be to track down and remove promotional language :) 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 20:09, 14 July 2026 (UTC)

Articles for Creation backlog drive

Hello Wasianpower:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Question from Guided Serendipity (06:37, 27 July 2026)
I have been encouraged, by a prolific and internationally respected writer on moneylaundering, to write about "The Walker Gravity Model of Moneylaundering", which is now recognised as the most scientifically-based method of quantifying transnational flows of hot money. As the progenitor of that model, am I precluded from doing so? --Guided Serendipity (talk) 06:37, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Guided Serendipity! You are not necessarily precluded from doing so. This is what is known as conflict of interested editing, which is discouraged but not prohibited. There are specific guidelines you should follow which are listed at WP:EDITCOI. I would recommend starting your article with the prefix
Draft:
, which will put it into WP:DRAFTSPACE, and from there it can be submitted through the articles for creation process. You can use the WP:Article creation wizard to create this draft, which will help add some code to assist with this. Keep in mind that any article must meet notability requirements, which require providing sources that are secondary sources that are reliable, are independent of the subject, and have significant coverage of the subject. Let me know if you have questions! 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 17:03, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
