Updated estimates of Jupiter's polar, equatorial and mean radii

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Matteo Fonsetti, and I am an astrophysicist currently working at the University of Bologna. I am writing to draw your attention to a recent peer-reviewed study published in Nature Astronomy (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41550-026-02777-x), which presents updated estimates of Jupiter’s shape based on the combined analysis of gravity measurements, radio occultation experiments, and observations of zonal winds. In particular, the study provides revised values for Jupiter’s polar radius, equatorial radius, and mean radius, which differ from the historical estimates currently reported in several references. I thought this work might be relevant for updating the corresponding values reported on Wikipedia, should you consider it appropriate. Thank you very much for your time and for your work in maintaining accurate and up-to-date scientific content.

Kindest regards, Matteo Fonsetti University of Bologna MFonsetti (talk) 18:38, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

Thanks, it looks like @Nimrodgav updated the values.  Done Johnjbarton (talk) 23:34, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
