The result of the move request was: not moved. WP:DIFFCAPS clearly applies in this case, as pointed out by the opposition. While I'd not heard of the book before, its common name is clearly sans the subtitle, therefore, the suggestion to move it to the longer name goes against WP:SUBTITLES, and doesn't seem necessary without convincing evidence it is causing navigation confusion. Major Labels → Major Labels (book)Major Labels (book) – Unclear if WP:DIFFCAPS is sufficient in this case; see Major labels. Newly-created article, pageviews stats are not available. 162 etc. (talk) 16:20, 27 July 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 18:50, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
- Wouldn't a more useful title for readers be Major Labels: A History of Popular Music in Seven Genres per WP:SUBTITLES? Schazjmd (talk) 19:01, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- WP:SUBTITLES actually recommends "using a concise form in preference to a full 'official' name." That being said, I have no objection to the longer title, if consensus prefers. 162 etc. (talk) 19:08, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: As this page's creator (which is to say that I chose/support its current title and not a WP:OWN statement), I personally think that there is enough of a difference per DIFFCAPS to not have issues with ambiguity, particularly since "Major labels" is solely a redirect to the page Record labels; the 'About' templates on both pages was intended to clear up any remaining confusion between the two articles. If consensus does build to change the name of this page, however, I support using the title of "Major Labels (book)". I also do not support changing this article's title to the full title, given that SUBTITLES explicitly states to use the book's common name (of which most publications exclude the subtitle when writing about it) and to be concise in the case of "books with verbose subtitles". - Support Major Labels: A History of Popular Music in Seven Genres. Clarity is always best. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:37, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:DIFFCAPS, until/unless there is evidence that a significant number of users landing at the book article are actually seeking record label (which I doubt). Including the subtitle (for disambiguation purposes or otherwise) seems inappropriate per the guidance at WP:SUBTITLES. Mdewman6 (talk) 00:11, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose mainly because lowercase redirects here. Would have no objection to the full title being used but, again, since both upper and lowercase arrive here the full title may not be needed. Randy Kryn (talk) 10:05, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Major labelsMajor labels and Major labelMajor label do not redirect to this article about a book. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:17, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
