Case for name change to Pikmin

Should this article's name be changed to "Pikmin" and the existing page called "Pikmin" be renamed to "Pikmin (video game)"? Reasons for would be consistency reasons based on other Nintendo series articles and because typically "Pikmin" refers to not the first game but the series both officially and by the consumer base. ~ P*h3i (talk to me) 04:35, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

– There are 4 Pikmin games and a possible 5th on the way, making it unlikely that the original Pikmin is the primary topic. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 10:16, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

  • Support, even if just to get rid of the bad disambiguation "series". --Gonnym (talk) 17:12, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
  • Support per nom. Only under exceptional circumstances is a single game primary over its series (in essence, the sum is almost always greater than its parts). Also, yes, the (series) disambiguator should be deprecated outright. -- Netoholic @ 18:58, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
  • Support per nom and WP:COMMONSENSE. Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 seem to be notable enough to not make the first game a primary topic . Jovanmilic97 (talk) 21:50, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

Pikmin Descriptions

It seems redundant to have in depth descriptions of each pikmin type in both the gameplay and the plot section. It would be better to only include these descriptions in one of the two sections. Bagel82 (talk) 19:47, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

the hoaxes and rumors section

i kinda feel like its useless to mention things like fiddlebert and the pom thing. those two things are barely mentioned within the fandom and are totaly unrelated to most of the article and should probably be removed because its just... uneeded? most people in the fandom already know about fiddlebert and the leaks were so long ago along with being leaks for an already released game that was proven false nobody would really care for the stuff under this section and it should probably be removed Limey pichu (talk) 15:55, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

I would agree. There's been no real WP:LASTING coverage of these subjects. They are interesting somewhat, but they could be removed with no real loss. guninvalid (talk) 15:58, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
I mean, there's some value in information about the community and its customs, but I do agree that fanon facts probably shouldn't be on the page. As an editor of Pikipedia I can say for certain that nothing about Fiddlebert or the like would be on any of the pages there, so I don't really think it should be here. The section also is not particularly substantial, so I don't disagree with statements of its removal, but I'd still like to see if Wikipedia has any other policies on fan information first. Additionally, other smaller Niintendo series' pages (I looked at Yoshi, Metroid, and Splatoon; the latter two aren't as small as Pikmin but it's probably fine) do not have a "hoaxes" section, so this probably shouldn't either. Wikipedia doesn't have specific policies regarding fan information to my knowledge, but this would be covered by typical notability guidelines. guninvalid (talk) 17:38, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
