I think so but it’s against the rules maybe I’m not sure. What do u guys think? The changes I would like are that the images of naked children (real photos not a diagram) be removed or replaced by another image. OrangeLolipopSnail (talk) 11:44, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- Why? This request seems rather prudish. - Roxy the dog 11:48, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- bc other ppl want it on this talk page and the images could be a diagram or smth like that instead OrangeLolipopSnail (talk) 11:55, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- I agree with you now it does seem prudish sorry. OrangeLolipopSnail (talk) 22:03, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}}template. DMacks (talk) 12:28, 10 March 2025 (UTC)- I’m not getting much info currently it is 3/5 ppl want this change how many ppl/percent do u need I thought a majority was enough to make a request? Or is it some random amount that is chosen bc that’s what it seems like to me? Or am I missing something and I’m being stupid? Sorry if I’m being rude OrangeLolipopSnail (talk) 12:35, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- WP:CONSENSUS is the usual standard, and strength of position based on policies and guidelines, not a vote. I'm not taking a position on the content, just identifying the process to use to change it. DMacks (talk) 12:37, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
- I give up OrangeLolipopSnail (talk) 12:45, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

Antibiotics and vaccinations
I note that an additional change in childhood between the early industrialization and today is not mentioned: the availability of broad spectrum antibiotics and vaccinations has led to a reduction in the length of time children were/are ill with various infections. This is in my opinion complementary to improvements in nutrition, but could be understood as an individual having to turn nutritional resources towards recovery from the infection instead of growth. This would mean a childhood illness might have resulted in a "time out" for growth during a serious illness. Now that many such illnesses can be avoided or shortened, both the onset of puberty and the overall adult height have changed over time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.206.162.198 (talk) 01:36, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
Illustrations
Wow, the illustrations show only white people. Is that because only they undergo puberty? I never knew! There's a diagram near the top of the article illustrating the hormone cycle in males and females. The two (partial) body outlines are identically sized. Women are smaller than men, on average. Why the distortion? Second, the female brain, on average is significantly smaller than the male brain. Again, why the distortion as the diagram shows them virtually the same size? (Note: given the power-law of animal mass to brain mass, while the human female brain is smaller, it is (on average) generally larger in proportion to body mass than the male's.) I'd call this woke, but the absence of any evidence that humans not European whites exists speaks against that. There seems to be way, way, way too much emphasis on genitals here (in the photographs). I count 7 of the 9 photos to be of genitals. Why so many? Seems completely unjustified, especially with the very white-european bias. I assure you other populations would look quite a bit different in their development. I recall there used to be a website that described the changes girls underwent during puberty. One of them, that I don't see mentioned here is that their skin changes. I vaguely recall it not being only their lips and face, but that I'm not sure of. What I DO recall is that it was claimed that the lips tended to become larger and skin thinner (thus appearing redder). It could be this was a myth, and I'm unable to recall the site name. Finally, is it literally ridiculous that mood and emotion aren't a core subject here! What's wrong with the editors, I wonder.~2026-92463-4 (talk) 01:49, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
