The article and sources are not consistent on whether commerical cargo ops started on the 26th or the 27th. Which is it? My searches for "first cargo flight" just return the trial flight on the 14th, which doesn't really count. Asamboi (talk) 21:37, 28 July 2026 (UTC)

Editors have been adding a statement stating that a specific aircraft was the first international arrival, using a flight tracker as a source which is obvious WP:SYNTH as nowhere does it state the claim being made in the edit - it’s a conclusion being brought out of combining sources. Does anyone have an actually reliable source for this statement?

In the United States, the principal reason for saying that an airport is "operated by WSA Co Limited" would be to indicate that the airport is not itself operated by a government agency, but by a separate private corporation; compare Ambassador Bridge. There are only a very small number of wholly U.S.-government-owned corporations whose names, standing alone, could readily be mistaken for those of private corporations. Thus, to an American reader, "corporation" or especially "Limited" strongly suggests private ownership unless the text says otherwise.

Australia is quite different. I found 67 current government-owned corporations in Australia, many of them highly public-facing. An Australian reader may therefore see "operated by WSA Co Limited" and readily understand that WSA Co may itself be government-owned. To an American reader, however, the same wording strongly suggests that the government has granted the right to build, operate, and profit from the airport to an independent private company.

The facts are quite different: WSA Co Limited is wholly owned by the Australian Government. The statement that the airport is owned by the Australian Government does not resolve this ambiguity, because a government-owned airport can perfectly well be operated by a privately owned concessionaire. Please do me the courtesy of explaining why my first addition of "which is wholly owned by the Australian Government" was speedily removed. That phrase seems to me to provide material information needed to prevent a very plausible misunderstanding by readers outside Australia. Nick Beeson (talk) 02:33, 10 August 2026 (UTC)

The edit was reverted because the it broke a reference by deleting a chunk of characters from the middle. Also, the claim is in the lead but seemingly not mentioned or supported by any references in the article body. If the claim is readded I would put it with the first mention of WSA in the history section with a source and context. Celjski Grad (talk) 04:41, 10 August 2026 (UTC)

Added reference. I saw the infobox before I made the change but it did not clarify that "Co Limited" did not mean "private owned" as it sounds to my American ears. Now it is clear, and referenced. Sorry about the deleted reference chunk. Nick Beeson (talk) 05:55, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
