Delete Taiwan as a named country in the category of Consumption Szymonn Jankowski (talk) 13:22, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Why should we do this? Toast1454TC 16:01, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Taiwan is not a country atleast not a one recognized by the UN or most countries, and it being among the list that infers it is a country, is an insult to the true chinese culture Szymonn Jankowski (talk) 19:48, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

- Taiwan is not a country atleast not a one recognized by the UN or most countries, and it being among the list that claims it is a country "Asian nations like China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia", is an insult to the true chinese culture. Claiming that it is in fact a nation is simply misinformation, no matter what one's stance on the sovereignity of Taiwan is. Szymonn Jankowski (talk) 19:51, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Even though it only has partial international recognition it's commonly described as a country in reliable sources (e.g., those cited in the first sentence of our article on Taiwan). So there's nothing inappropriate about calling it an Asian nation here. Day Creature (talk) 20:16, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

- While some secondary sources may colloquially refer to Taiwan as a “country,” Wikipedia policy requires us to reflect "international legal and political reality", not informal usage. Taiwan is not a UN member state and is officially recognized as a sovereign state by only a small minority of countries. The UN and the vast majority of states recognize the Peoples Republic of China as the sole representative of China, with Taiwan’s status remaining unresolved.
- Per WP:NPOVand WP:PRECISION wording should avoid implicitly taking a position in an active sovereignty dispute. Listing Taiwan alongside universally recognized states under the unqualified label “Asian nations” risks misleading readers by implying a level of international recognition that does not exist.
