Mid-importance?
Should we raise this to mid importance for France and Politics? 128.4.151.217 (talk) 19:04, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- Yes. Done. Edwardx (talk) 19:18, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- He just resigned, will it get dropped down since he was only in for a month or so? The Legendary Vin (talk) 08:07, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
- The definition reads: "Topics that are reasonably notable on a national level within France without necessarily being famous or very notable internationally, including smaller towns".
- By that definition the page probably should have been at that level well before he became PM; he was the defense minister for the past three years. Now that he's a soon-to-be-former PM, I think he will meet that definition for at least some years to come. (How many years will it be before Liz Truss stops being "reasonably notable" within the UK?) Greg Price (talk) 05:04, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
- Makes sense, thanks for informing me. The Legendary Vin (talk) 05:12, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

nothing about his private life?
Of course, every politician has the right not to disclose anything about his or her private life.
If Lecornou does this (afaik he does), there should be a short section in the article with one sentence: “Almost nothing is known about his private life.” Vieilissant (talk) 13:23, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

source reuters are there any "current" tags for office resignation or anything similar? dom 07:54, 6 October 2025 (UTC)

He's resigned but remains the prime minister — he's a "caretaker" prime minister ("démissionaire" in French). This is the same status that Gabriel Attal had for months last year. Greg Price (talk) 04:56, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
1-day-cabinet
(translated from fr:Sébastien Lecornu):
After his government was announced on October 5, reactions from members of his majority forced him to resign the very next day, making him the shortest-serving prime minister in the history of the Fifth Republic.
His government, which resigned less than a day after it was formed, is also the shortest-lived in French history.
I guess he will remain in charge until a successor is found. --Vieilissant (talk) 10:27, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
Infobox formatting dispute
Sébastien Lecornu resigned as prime minister of 6 October 2025 and served as a caretaker prime minister until a successor could be appointed. However, 4 days later, President Macron reappointed him prime minister.
Because Lecornu hasn't served as prime minister in full capacity since 6 September 2025, some users have been debating the formatting of the infobox. Should he have a note by the term start date? Should there be an underlining mention that he served as a caretaker during the 4 days? Or should there be nothing there at all?
Which option of infobox should we use for this page Option A, Option B, or Option C? See the three options in infobox form below. TimeToFixThis | 🕒 01:31, 17 October 2025 (UTC)

Notes
- Option A is clean and consistent with established practice. Follows MOS:STYLEVAR and MOS:IBP.
- Footnotes or additional lines in infoboxes are normally reserved for extraordinary circumstances that are essential to understanding a person's term in office (suspension, disputed succession/mandate, etc).
- A short caretaker period, however, is a routine status shared by all outgoing prime ministers and ministers during government transitions, and therefore not exceptional at all. Tahōmaru 多宝丸 talk 04:36, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Option B, per MOS:SMALLTEXT as well as the uniqueness of this situation. Lecornu's caretaker status is not typical as it was initiated by a voluntary resignation not succeeding an election followed by a re-instatement by the president. – GlowstoneUnknown (Talk) 06:25, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Option B, as mentioned above. People will likely wonder about the distinction between full-term and caretaker. Since he did resign, I think a small note is reasonable - it clarifies the situation without taking up much space. TimeToFixThis | 🕒 19:37, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: Just as an example too, the prime minister of Nepal, K. P. Sharma Oli, resigned as well and served as a caretaker until his successor took office. He has a efn note in his infobox as well. TimeToFixThis | 🕒 23:23, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- WP:RFCBEFORE was not followed. Polygnotus (talk) 11:33, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: I have removed the Rfc header. This is a simple content dispute concerning an Infobox. If every minor case of edit-warring at an article Infobox resulted in an Rfc, editors at Wikipedia would be doing nothing but responding to Rfc's instead of building an encyclopedia. An Rfc is a very costly method of resolving a content dispute, and should be used as a last resort after extensive Talk page discussion or other means of dispute resolution such as WP:3O or mediation have failed to achieve consensus. This is not remotely the case here, thus this fails WP:RFCBEFORE as noted by Polygnotus. This section can still be used to discuss the question, or you can start another section, as you wish.
