  • The article has been thoroughly expanded, is of sufficient length, and is well-sourced, with no copyright issues detected by Earwig. The QPQ has been completed, and the source confirms that the hook is engaging. I found the DYK particularly interesting, though I suggest adding another hook for variety. Overall, it is well-prepared and ready for use. Pangalau (talk) 05:46, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
What happens in this case where the reviewer has been blocked as a sockpuppet? CoryGlee (talk) 10:51, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

Exposure

The article mentions that a lot of those initially on top of the boat from exposure to the cold. Were they particularly vulnerable to exposure compared to other boats only because their clothes were wet and they didn't have blankets, or also because they were not completely isolated from water while on top of the keel of the boat, or for some other reason I haven't thought of? Maybe a bit obvious, but not so much so that I wouldn't expect it to be stated explicitly in the text. ~2025-31121-91 (talk) 21:11, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

General comments

Taking this up, great work on the article-- it's well written and comprehensive. Added a U.S. copyright tag to one of the illustrations.

  • Minor copy-edits, feel free to push back or amend (you can Ctrl+F for non-bolded words): Inspired in a Danish design --> Inspired by a Danish design; unable to do that --> unable to do so; collaborating with information for Lord's 1955 book --> contributing information for Lord's 1955 book
  • If straightforwardly available, I think the lede should mention how many people survived by using the boat (surely part of the notability of a lifeboat is the number of lives it saved?). Are there only figures for the rescue boats? Maybe you could summarise the list, qualifying that these are merely the known survivors. You could also namecheck the most notable among them? Interested to hear your thoughts.

Same with the issues here, Joko, I think I can work quick. CoryGlee 22:53, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks-- these points are very minor, the only thing possibly threatening a fail is the sourcing. Joko2468 (talk) 22:57, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Randomised spot check of citations

22, 49, 24, 3, 1, 44, 40

Reviewed version

  • 22: Could you provide a quotation for this? Bancroft (2025: p.126).
  • 49: This source seems to merely take its information from Encyclopedia Titanica-- personally I would be inclined to consider this a reliable source that can be used in its place (, I'm not seeing objections in these discussions). How come it isn't used outright? a and c aren't supported, while b seems like original research?
  • 1: Doesn't seem to support that Collapsible B was on the port side, nor the materials it was made out of. Rest is good.
  • 44: More Bancroft (2025) I'm afraid, p.125, I'm going to need both quotes.
  • 40: Neither cited source appears to support that he was unofficially in charge of Collapsible B.

The spot check indicated a few sourcing issues, I'm going to repeat it again: 18, 8, 23, 42, 50, 39, 68

  • 18: Does this mean Joughin was clinging on to the ropes? The source seems to say that he was allowed on top.
  • 8: Could you provide a quotation supporting this? Wormstedt & Fitch (2011: p. 141).
  • 23: Again, I can't get access to this my apologies. Winocour (2012: p.216).
  • 50: And again, Medhurst (2023).
  • 39: a isn't supported, a search for 1956 returns something irrelevant. It doesn't seem relevant to b either?
  • 68: I'm not seeing anything about Collins having syphylis here?

I won't do any more, I'm conscious that I've asked you for six quotations. I'm concerned about the verification failures here, unfortunately I'm considering failing the nomination and recommending that you give the sourcing a once-over. Joko2468 (talk) 21:55, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi Joko2468, thank you so much for taking up my first GA nomination. May I have a little time to try to fix those verification issues? If I may, please. If I am not able to give better verification to the concerns, I completely understand a failure. Please let me know if you allow me to do so and how much time I have for that. Many thanks again. CoryGlee 22:51, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
No worries and ofcourse, though I'd have to be confident that the sourcing was accurate for the rest of the article as well (this would entail further rounds of spotchecking). If you don't think the rest of the citations would pass those spotchecks then it may be best to renominate once you've gone over all of them. Joko2468 (talk) 22:55, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
And you'd typically have a week but I'm more than happy to extend that if need be. If the future spotchecks indicate that verification issues are present throughout the article then I think I'd have to fail it-- I don't think it would be reasonable to make you rework the sourcing under the pressure of a GA review and it'd be a lot for me to check. Joko2468 (talk) 23:03, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you, Joko, yes, as you can see, the detail of the Paul Paix I read it on a Paul Lee book, but it's self-published, so it cannot be added. I have trimmed there and added a reference for the Mackay-Bennett. I guess the rest is mostly verifiable. If not, may I ask you how much time must I wait to renominate it? Thank you so much! CoryGlee 23:06, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
You can renominate the article immediately if you think it would pass a review, or if you're confident you can fix the sourcing issues before it would be taken up (typically two weeks to several months in my experience). I think renominating immediately keeps your spot in the queue? Joko2468 (talk) 23:12, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
Hey, friend, Joko2468, I have addressed all of the citations above considering Encyclopedia Titanica a reliable source for Titanic info in some of them. Please tell me if there are more. I worked quickly, hehe. Points above (syntax, etc.)—I promise to address them tomorrow. CoryGlee 03:34, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
Good work. It seems you might be under the apprehension that sources need to be readily accessible-- it's perfectly alright to use offline books, you just need to be able to provide the quotation when a reviewer asks (you can do this in the replies). I'll start some more spotchecking: 25, 56, 68, 38, 2, 27, 47
Reviewed version
2: Doesn't support that the boats were made specifically from kapok.
27: Could you provide a quotation(s) for this? Ruffman (2013: pp.28-30).
47: Bancroft (2025) again unfortunately, p.123 please.
I'm going to do one last spotcheck-- I'm afraid I'm going to have to be a little harsh if issues come up: 17, 80, 53, 84, 16, 76, 4
  • 53: I only have access to the 2012 edition of Molony (2000) but a search for "Canada" doesn't seem support that O'Keefe served in Canada during WWI. A search for "1939" brings up no results. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  • 16: This doesn't mention a funnel nearly crushing Lightoller
  • 76: This is good but both sources say that his suicide was ultimately brought about by a nervous breakdown-- I would mention this.
With the further verification failures for 2, 16, and apparently 53 I'm going to have to fail this nomination. You can definitely get this past a GA review, you just need to do a once-over of the citations to ensure that everything matches up to the cited source. Best of luck with renominating.
