Request to split preparations and impacts
Given that there are some major impacts already, could anyone still working on the article separate the impacts from the preparations? Thanks! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:28, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Hurricanehink:
Done even though it’s kinda bare bones it’s still manageable. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 00:16, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
Move
Already more notable than any other Bavi. And there isnt any article simply named Typhoon Bavi. Should be moved to Typhoon Bavi. Cuises123 (talk) 03:33, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose - the other Bavi was deadly and this one wasn't (yet). ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:47, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- Neutral - alright, the point makes sense. but the fact it's the strongest to hit the mariana islands make it more notable in another way aswell? many routine tropical storms kill scores of people, but arent really that notable. Cuises123 (talk) 04:49, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- not yet not even that notable compared to other bavis at the moment, wait for damage/casualty reports to roll in. also why are you voting for your own request ArcherAndVance (talk) 18:53, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- also worth mentioning that tropical storms that kill scores of people are usually notable storms so your point doesn't really make sense ArcherAndVance (talk) 12:46, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
- ok, fatalities have been reported - 15 of them. when damages come out i might want to move it but this is up to you peeps ArcherAndVance (talk) 14:52, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

Tornados observed?
One user on X stated that Guam may have been hit by a tornado according to this X post. https://x.com/sekai_wx/status/2073730606299754521?s=46
Correlation Coefficient (of one of you understands NEXRAD products) detected a Debris Ball south of guam, near Santa Rita. The debris ball is also visible on Reflectivity. TheFixer237 (talk) 04:48, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- oh, yeah, i've seen that website (not x but the website where the images come from). waiting for a better information source than x ArcherAndVance (talk) 18:55, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
Data
I hope have data in Rota soon. Nguyễn Quốc Anh (1248) (talk) 13:56, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
Taiwan
Taiwan should be a separate category from China as Taiwan is its own self governing jurisdiction and not part of the PRC. Certainly if Guam (a legitimate territory of the USA) gets its own heading then there is zero justification to list Taiwan as part of “China” ~2026-39232-94 (talk) 02:00, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
Dissipated?
Zoom earth shows that bavi has dissolved... ~2026-39586-71 (talk) 12:59, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
- Zoom Earth, even though it uses JTWC information (i am pretty sure..), is unreliable!!
- Use the JMA and JTWC websites for reliable information, it is a Tropical Storm by the JMA as of 15:00 UTC on 14 July. Novalite.Wx (talk) 17:56, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
Lead
I know its general policy with storms to keep them stated as active in the lead when they're extratropical and not fully dissipated, but is it *really* necessary to say that it is still a powerful tropical cyclone when it's much weaker and now extra-tropical? Even just saying it was formerly a large, powerful and long-tracking tropical cyclone and that it is a large and intense (by pressure) extratropical cyclone currently would be better I feel. Just my 2 cents though. AutisticYapper (talk) 06:08, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
should we move this to "typhoon bavi"?
since the storm has caused more damages and fatalities than any other bavi and that it was the strongest typhoon to hit the mariana islands (jtwc numbers), should we move it? rowanthey/them•contribs 02:51, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
- Wait, I quite agree, but we should wait till the mariana islands have confirmed damage in my opinion, but once the numbers get mostly confirmed on every place affected then the move should be performed :)! Novalite.Wx (talk) 22:18, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
