... that Ute Walther, who portrayed the Rosenkavalier in the 1985 opening of the restored Semperoper, then went to the Deutsche Oper Berlin in West Berlin for a long career? Source: for the former fact, for the latter
Comment: Today is the former day of German Unification, from a time when it seamed a dream: perhaps a good time to nominate a singer between East and West in the 1980s. The Semperoper performance is on YouTube.

Number of QPQs required: 2. DYK is currently in unreviewed backlog mode and nominator has 2183 past nominations.
I'll take a shot at reviewing this one. "She performed as a guest at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, at the Edinburgh Festival in 1982 as the Composer, in Madrid and Lisbon." Is there supposed to be something before "in Madrid and Lisbon"? APKhi:-) (talk) 09:46, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
Not sure if I understand the question. It would be nice to know more detail about these performances but we can only say what the sources say. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:29, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
It seems like there’s a missing word or phrase, or maybe I’m reading it wrong. Did she perform as the Composer in Madrid and Lisbon as well? APKhi:-) (talk) 12:33, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
It would be nice to known more about her performances in Madrid and Lisbon, but we can only say what the sources say, giving only the cities - not theatre, no opera, no role, no time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:42, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
I think an "and" is missing. Grimes2 12:48, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
add it if you think it clarifies --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:15, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you, the missing "and" is what was throwing me off I suppose. APKhi:-) (talk) 17:18, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
The length is good and as far as Earwig is concerned, there are some similar sentences from this source that could be reworded. The hook seems good, but do you think it's worth mentioning she performed in both East Germany and West Germany? The current hook suggestion implies that, but I wonder how many readers would know that Semperoper is in Dresden. I guess adding "in Dresden" might clarify. APKhi:-) (talk) 17:18, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
I'd not be surprised if Operawire copied from us. - We can add in Dresden, but I'm not sure that people would know that it was in East Germany (and sometimes I feel we can't even expect readers to know that Germany was divided).
Sadly, you're right about the division of Germany and common knowledge. I didn't realize Operawire copied us until you mentioned it and I looked at the edit history timeline. Thanks for pointing that out. Everything looks good. Thanks for writing! APKhi:-) (talk) 22:40, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
Several days have passed since this was pulled and no new hooks or angles were proposed despite pings, so marking for closure. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 23:14, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
