– Primary topic per pageviews, and it's not even close. While some may argue long-term significance for Rota fortunae, the longest-running syndicated game show in the United States definitely has long-term significance as well. 162 etc. (talk) 19:45, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Oppose I appreciate the American game show is important and significant, but the wheel of fortune as a concept in the history of ideas has considerably more long-term significance. Rafts of Calm (talk) 21:32, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose I am assuming 162 overlooked Wheel of Fortune (tarot card). There is only a 4x spread in pageviews, and when it comes to PTOPIC we're often looking for a much larger spread. I would agree that the balance of the article don't even come close. Furthermore per wikinav we see that only 34% of outgoing page views are going to the game, so there is a much larger percentage of people looking for something different. TiggerJay(talk) 05:40, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose. No primary topic, significant as the game show is. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:32, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
  • Support. It is difficult to assert there is no primary topic when pageviews convincingly indicate the American game show is much, much more popular with users: and . Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 21:00, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
This is not the only determiner of primary status. Rafts of Calm (talk) 21:25, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
In addition to Rafts... If we look at how people are using the current DAB page, the majority people (per wikinav above) are NOT going to the gameshow but to other pages. If we expect that Wheel of Fortune is primary, than the majority of people going to the dab page should also be navigating through to the game show, but that isn't what we see. TiggerJay(talk) 05:16, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose per Rafts of Clam. The game show can't be said to have "substantially greater enduring notability and educational value" (WP:PT2) than the symbol of the wheel of Fortune. Ham II (talk) 21:25, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose – just barely 1/3rd of people go from the DAB page to the game show. I don't think you can argue PTOPIC in basically any scenario where that's the case, and certainly not one where long-term significance isn't a major factor. Pageviews are also not as big of a gap as they could be, as several different articles have significant viewership on this DAB page (Wheel of Fortune (tarot card), Wheel of Fortune (British game show) and Rota Fortunae all have significant pageviews). Million Dollar Winners

Recently, the top prize winners and losses were completely removed from the page as Wikipedia is generally not a place for statistical data. However, I believe that we should, at minimum, include the list of the four contestants that have won the million dollar prize on the show, as it has only occurred four times since 2008 and I believe it is noteworthy as it is a rare occurrence. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has a list of million dollar winners, so I think that it would make sense to include a similar concept on this page as well. Please let me know what you all think. – The page on the American game show has 1,000 to 1,200 daily page views. The tarot card has only 200 a day, and all other works titled "Wheel of Fortune" have substantially fewer. Also, while the gambling game is also called "wheel of fortune", its article is at Big Six wheel, suggesting that is the more common name for it. Most of the songs titled "Wheel of Fortune" have 5-10 page views a day at best, ditto the novel and play. I don't think this is too Amerocentric or too much of a recency bias relative to the tarot card, as this is a show that's been on the air non-stop for 50 years, and a basic Google search for "Wheel of Fortune" turns up exclusively info on the American verison of the game show. The page views, inbound links, daily page traffic, and off-site searching seem to show overwhelming favor toward the American game show being the primary topic of "Wheel of Fortune". Compare a similar move done to The Price Is Right a while back. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 16:54, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment Previously discussed in 2025, with the consensus being "Not moved". 162 etc. (talk) 17:53, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Strong Oppose For one ,Wheel_of_Fortune_(medieval), absurdly missed from the disam page, gets over 100 views per day. Altogether there are too many other uses, and yes, it is too Amerocentric a nom. TPH, with all your experience of proposing doomed moves, it really shouldn't surprise you by now that the Indian version gets over 500 views a day, and the British one over 100. This nom doesn't come close to meeting to meeting the criteria for a primary meaning. I doubt Wheel of Fortune (American game show) gets even 50% of the total views off the disam page. Your "The tarot card has only 200 a day, and all other works titled "Wheel of Fortune" have substantially fewer" is flat untrue, by a mile! Johnbod (talk) 19:24, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose The medieval term has far greater long-term significance, which balances out the game show's popularity. Admittedly, I thought of the tarot card before the game show when first seeing the term, but I'm a fantasy buff who hasn't watched the game show in many years. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 19:54, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose. No primary topic per long-term significance. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:52, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose. The current naming convention is fine. No primary topic. Guz13 (talk) 00:37, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Can someone tell me how the term with more page views than all other forms of the term combined is somehow still not the primary topic? How much more prominent does it need to be? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 13:56, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Because that's what the policy says - look it up. 3 to 4 times all others combined is often taken as the benchmark, & it remains to be demonstrated that this even has a bare majority. Johnbod (talk) 14:37, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
And so we have to routinely submit to bean-counting even when common sense would be better? Seems like process for the sake of process, a solution in search of a problem. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 14:39, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Yup. I notice your nom here largely consisted of "bean-counting", just very badly done. Johnbod (talk) 22:57, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Even putting numbers aside, longterm significance is not in favor of the game show. The Wheel of Fortune is a longstanding concept that existed way before the idea was made into a show. Views is not the sole way to judge what is a primary topic, and the nom basically didn't mention it. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 07:57, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
