Welcome!

Hello, Anurekhac7, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited was Draft:Rekha Chakraborty, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, which will be reviewed by other editors. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Wikipedia as a source

You cannot use Wikipedia itself as a source in an article. Because Wikipedia is a self-published source where users generate its content, it has no editorial review process. Therefore, it (or any open wiki website) cannot be considered a reliable source. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:31, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for flagging this. I have removed all Wikipedia self-citations
from the revised draft. The Soviet Land Nehru Award reference and Ashok Kumar
reference have been replaced or removed.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Rekha Chakraborty when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Rekha Chakraborty moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Rekha Chakraborty. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability, it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. voorts (talk/contributions) 21:18, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for the detailed feedback. I am the granddaughter of the subject
and have already disclosed the COI on the Talk page above.
I would like to address the three concerns:
NOTABILITY: The subject's works are held in the permanent collections of
the Lenin Museum (Moscow), Dimitrov Museum (Sofia), Tagore Centre (London),
Gandhi Memorial (Berlin) and Goethe Museum. She received the Soviet Land
Nehru Award and was felicitated by President Neelam Sanjiva Reddy at
Rashtrapati Bhavan in 1979. These are objective markers of notability that
exist independent of online sources. Most of her active career predates the
digital archiving of Indian press, which is why finding online citations is
difficult, but her works physically exist in international institutions and
are verifiable.
PROMOTIONAL TONE: I will rewrite the article in a more neutral encyclopaedic
tone. I welcome specific suggestions for sentences that read promotionally.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Already disclosed in the section above. I am happy to
have any neutral editor rewrite or modify the article.
I will resubmit a revised version. Thank you again for the time you have
taken to review it.
Anurekhac7 (talk) 21:36, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
Update: I have now completed all three of the above. The draft has been
fully rewritten in neutral encyclopaedic tone and resubmitted for review.
Specifically:
1. NOTABILITY: Two independent press sources have been added —
Bharati Kanjilal, "Annual brush with canvas & colour", The Telegraph,
Kolkata, 7 April 2017; and Jayeeta Chatterjee, "This Art Gallery In Salt
Lake Is Also A Cultural Institution", WhatsHot Kolkata, Times Internet,
2 April 2019. These confirm the founding, operation and cultural standing
of Rekha Chitram independently of family sources.
2. PROMOTIONAL TONE: All promotional phrasing has been removed. Section
headings have been renamed to neutral titles (Career, Recognition, Death).
Superlatives and editorial characterisations have been deleted throughout.
3. CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Disclosed on this Talk page. The revised draft
does not promote any commercial service and all claims are supported by
inline citations.
I am grateful for the detailed feedback which helped improve the article
considerably. I look forward to your review of the revised submission.

Feedback
The reviewer, Flyingphoenixchips, left the following feedback:
This draft does not include any sources or inline citations. Wikipedia's verifiability policy requires that all content be supported by reliable sources. You should also use inline citations (footnotes) to show which source supports which specific statement.

The draft requires multiple published secondary sources that:

  • provide significant coverage: discuss the subject in detail, not just brief mentions or routine announcements;
  • are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent: not connected to the subject, such as press releases, the subject's own website, or sponsored content.

Please add references that meet all three of these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

You must place an inline citation directly after:

  • quotations;
  • any material whose verifiability is likely to be challenged or is contentious;
  • any material about living people.

Btw @Anurekhac7 I understand that there might not be enough sources online. You are welcome to add physical sources, and cite them. Some other editor maybe someone in West Bengal can verify it, or we can just assume good faith. I understand that its extremely hard to find online sources for people before 2000. Thank you for the kind note about physical sources. The draft does contain inline citations throughout — The Telegraph (2017) and WhatsHot Kolkata (2019) as independent press sources, the Rekha Chitram physical archive for the Soviet Land Nehru Award photograph, and the institutional document Discovery of the Dormant Arun for the presidential felicitation. I have now removed the maintenance tags and added introductory citations to both the Works in Collections and Exhibitions tables. I am happy to provide further details on the physical sources if needed and welcome any remaining feedback before resubmission. Anurekhac7 (talk) 07:02, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
Hi are you using AI? Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 15:18, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
Hello,
I have only used AI to help me with the wikitext templates and to clean up my really long replies here on the talk page, making them more structured and organized. The article itself comes from what I know directly as her granddaughter, and from the published sources that I have cited.
I want to say something about why this matters in Indian handloom and Vocal for Local context. Rekha Chakraborty died in 2006 so there is no commercial motive here and promoting her would not benefit me in any way commercially. However, she spent her career trying to get embroidery taken seriously as fine art in India, mostly in the 70s, 80s and 90s, long before any of this could be archived online. The Soviet Embassy gave her the Soviet Land Nehru Award. President Neelam Sanjiva Reddy invited her to Rashtrapati Bhavan (official residence of the President of India in 1979) to felicitate her for her work. Her embroidered portraits are in the Lenin Museum in Moscow, the Dimitrov Museum in Sofia, the Tagore Centre in London, and the Gandhi Memorial in Berlin. Most of that coverage was in print back in the days, which was not archieved.
The two press pieces I cited line up closely with what the draft actually says.
1. The Telegraph piece from 2017 by Bharati Kanjilal confirms Rekha Chakraborty founded Rekha Chitram in 1980, that it started at CA Market before shifting to CK Block in 1991, and that annual exhibitions have been held since the first year. It also carries Rekha's son Arun Chakraborty's direct quote about embroidery being "a traditional folk craft that has transformed into fine art."
2. The WhatsHot Kolkata piece from 2019 by Jayeeta Chatterjee describes Rekha Chitram as "an art gallery and cultural institution," lists the specific portraits she made (Kishore Kumar, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, Sukumar Ray, S.D. Burman, Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi, Lady Diana, Amartya Sen, Leo Tolstoy and others), and mentions the 1947 painting of a young tribal woman as the oldest work in the gallery. Each of these facts are in the draft because the sources confirm them.
I also have a PDF of a journal published about her work that I can share if it would help. With the Vocal for Local push to bring local craft pioneers back into public memory, leaving her out of Wikipedia because the digital trail is thin would be a real loss. I am open to any rewrites or corrections if you suggest so. Anurekhac7 (talk) 23:16, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
No worries, but please try to source everything yourself and redo the article without using AI. We at wikipedia cannot accept any AI assisted articles. Also you can use offline sources as well, but please do not use AI. Everything here must be based on actual sources, not based on what you know or the Ai hallucinates. It seems like the AI has changed the text substantially. Wikipedia has a visual editor, you can use that if you are not comfortable with code Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 00:41, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
@Anurekhac7 Also suggest you to create a user page at Anurekhac7 and disclose your relationship, as a conflict of interest disclosure. You can look at my userpage Flyingphoenixchips as an example Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 00:46, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
