Hi, I am wondering about the standard for writing non-english names (in this case vietnamese). If the name has latin letters, is it okay to omit diacritics when repeatedly using the name in english? The person who keeps on reverting my edits and nominates my pages for deletion has refused to talk to me without throwing wiki links at me and has constantly changed his reasons for reverting my edits. He has also said my edits on these volleyball pages are commendable, but then wants to delete the pages. That doesn't sense to me. When I have done these edits on other pages, no one bats an eyelid. But the volleyball editors are adamant that my edits are disruptive for some reason. I tried to get a consensus but that got nowhere.

You are more than welcome to keep doing so, but did you know that there are already three templates specifically for welcoming mentees? See Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome templates#Mentors. There is also one "mentor-aware" template, {{welcome-retro}}; this template is not specifically for welcoming mentees, but it knows if the person you are welcoming is your mentee or not, and if you are, it adds notification of your being assigned as their mentor to the standard welcome message.

If you are happy with the wording of your template, just carry on doing what you're doing. You might want to look at the other templates anyway, because you could steal ideas from them, like how to say, "Hello, Aplucas0703!" instead of just, "Hello there!". There are other tricks too; lmk if you are interested in importing any of them into your template. @ILoveMartinique You can create citations using the top toolbar in visual mode (easiest way). See H:FOOT for help with footnotes (it should also cover citations). I recommend saving your work (publishing your edits) as you reach stopping points, as the browser itself can become overloaded or time out. They should also be reliable sources, and preferably secondary sources (like news reports). Most importantly, they should have significant coverage of the person. In general, this mean that each source has more than just a passing or trivial mention of the subject of the Wikipedia article you want to write. @Tkrczk Links to images will not load on Wikipedia. Wikimedia Commons can host media files, but they either have to be in the public domain or published under a free license. Since you are writing about Canadian Architect, you can upload the files to English Wikipedia under fair use (not Wikimedia Commons), but they won't show up in a draft article (for copyright reasons), so it'll have to be uploaded and added after the article is published. Hi, I wrote a full revision of a section of an article in my sandbox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:A_quick_804634695_PC%C2%B7aWb_per_hN%C2%B7s_run/sandbox). It is meant to replace the outdated Polarimetry sub-subsection on the Synthetic-aperture RADAR article. My only step left is to add all necessary citations, primarily academic articles. Can you help me understand how to add formal paper citations in the editor? Is there a system similar to BibTeX where raw citation data is supplied and it autoformats the citation for you? Or perhaps a Zotero export option? Or do I need to manually type in a citation complete with links for every paper I wish to cite? However, you might still have to fill in some of the missing information. It will format the citation for you if you use the citation tool and plug in the information. If you decide that this candidate still seems notable, you can check out WP:Article Wizard to start. @Sisyf1s Usually, when AfC gets backed up, a 4 month wait time is normal. Adding a comment which quickly shows the three best sources that establish notability can help speed up the article's approval. AaronNealLucas (talk) 23:27, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

@WacomFan It depends on the subject of the article. You can also fulfill the request by making the article yourself, if that is something you are interested in doing. @1stPOPOLOGIST You can start writing an article at WP:Article Wizard. Make sure that you declare your conflict of interest. You should also make sure that the topic of the article is mentioned in multiple reliable sources independent of the subject, and that those sources have significant coverage of the topic (more than a passing mention).
