Hello! Thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references! However, adding a bare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference to link rot. It is preferable to use proper citation templates when citing sources, including details such as title, author, date, and any other information necessary for a bibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{cite web}} template to cite a web page:
Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.
which displays inline in the running text of the article as:
- Lorem ipsum[1] dolor sit amet.
and displays under References as:
- ^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac". Ask a Question. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.
If you've already added one or more bare URLs to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations: try the Citer tool, or in the wikitext editor, try the reFill tool, and in the Visual Editor, the reference dialog can convert some bare urls into a full citation. Once again, thanks for adding references to articles. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 13:22, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

WikiCup 2026 July newsletter
The third round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 28 June at 23:59 (UTC). As a reminder, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, while peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 3 will advance to round 4 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 3 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points; eight scored over 500; and thirteen scored over 300. The top three contestants had at least one featured article (two of them with two apiece). The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
MCE89 (submissions) with 1567 points, mainly from good and featured articles about Australian people and geography, as well as some article reviews
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1547 points, mainly from good articles, featured articles, featured lists, and a good topic about figure skating, along with 20 article reviews
Reconrabbit (submissions) with 1004 points, mainly from a high-multiplier featured article on European rabbit and several good articles, DYKs, and reviews
A.Cython (submissions) with 1004 points, mainly from good articles about warfare, along with 22 article reviews
Generalissima (submissions) with 859 points, mainly from good and featured articles about rivers and East Asian topics
The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 12 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 7 featured-topic articles, 117 good articles, 74 good-topic articles and more than 30 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 13 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 180 reviews. The tournament points table has been updated.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 June but before the start of Round 4 can be claimed in Round 4. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:49, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
DRV
I closed this as you were getting upset and lashing out when editors did not agree with you. You were an the edge of getting sanctioned so the kindest thing to do was to end it.
You need to find a way to deal with disagreement that doesn't include personalising that disagreement. I have been clashing with some of the DRV regulars for the best part of 20 years but that's because our philosophies differ not because they are bad people and robust debate makes better outcomes. Spartaz Humbug! 19:46, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- I am not saying to be rude to you as your reply is fine, but if I was on the edge of getting sanctioned, that's pathetic. What did I say that was personal?
- People need to understand that for me as an autistic person, my points being ignored gets me very upset. Also, being told what to do when I felt very hurt by the volleyball people originally was not going to get anywhere. Also, can you explain to me why the following questions?
- Why is passive aggression allowed in Wikipedia? I have had numerous editors be passive aggressive to me in the past and they get no sanctions.
- Why do people constantly ignore my points? It feels so unjust, unfair and gets me upset. It is like people don't take me seriously.
- Don't take anything I said personally, but please answer the two questions as that will help my mental health.
- Best regards ILoveSport2006 (talk) 19:58, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- What you did that you were about to be sanctioned for was casting aspersions by saying that the nominator was acting out of spite, in the AFD, and then saying:
you are a liar saying I selectively targeted them.
. That is what you did that you were about to be sanctioned for. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:23, 4 July 2026 (UTC)- Well he did say I selectively targeted them when I didn't. Wouldn't that would make anyone upset? Also, he said my work was commendable but then ten days later nominated my pages for deletion and it did feel a bit like spite. The spite comes from the fact that a day before the nomination, I started editing and making changes to the Volleyball Nations Leagues pages again. He reverted to it and then right after nominated my pages for deletion. So it felt very coincidental and since he had been giving me problems already, it did feel like spite.
- Also your response proves my point about being ignored as again, I have to explain for the third time my points. I don't want to be lectured about how I acted because I am always civil 99% of the time, but I felt very hurt by the volleyball editors and felt they weren't listening to me which as I've said numerous times gets me very upset.
- So if you want me to stop replying, You have got to stop making me repeat the same points I've made.
- Also, the passive aggressive question wasn't answered so can I please have that answered as it would make help my mental health. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 20:38, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- Frankly, you are in complaining about the speck in other editors' eyes while ignoring the beam in your's territory. Spartaz Humbug! 21:16, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- What? ILoveSport2006 (talk) 21:53, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- See The Mote and the Beam. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:42, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- I guess my mental health isn't worth being improved by you people. That says it all. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 22:03, 4 July 2026 (UTC)
- You are going to be sorely disappointed if you think editors here will change their approaches to pander to your mental health. I'm saying this for absolute clarity, if you try and guilt other editors this way again then I'm going to remove you from participating. Spartaz Humbug! 06:28, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- I guess when my mental health is at stake for a month, people didn't give a damn. Don't reply I am not replying again to this conversation with people that dislike me. I tried to be nice but that didn't work. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 10:21, 6 July 2026 (UTC)

Your points were not ignored. They were read and disagreed with. There is a difference between being ignored and being in a minority and disagreed with. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:23, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

- Coming here to follow up on my colleague's comments. Your posts on @D.18th's Talk and at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2026 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League preliminary round are entirely uncalled for. Please consider this a final warning or you will be blocked and potentially topic banned from sports articles. Star Mississippi 01:16, 6 July 2026 (UTC)
- He tried to say I canvassed on the talk page which infuriated me. You don't know what I dealt with for a month. This hasn't changed the way as I am as I know I am one of the nicest people you will meet. This has made my opinion on people who runs the deletion or help desk pages significantly worse. My questions were constantly not answered in exchange for unhelpful opinions that didn't serve to help the situation but rather made the situation worse. I told you how I react in situations where it feels unjust but you still have no understanding and that has been shown the whole time in these conversations. There are some good people on this site, people who offer a lot and add brilliant ideas, but it definitely doesn't to all. This is my final reply on this situation and I am ready to live my life. - You can't say you weren't warned. Everyone has been patient with you but a) drop the stick, b) stop waving your MH around like a talisman to guilt other editors to your pov and c) go find something productive to do that doesn't involve you taking away time from other volunteers. Seeding
Was never announced somewhere so we do not add it. And please see WP:BRD and dont just revert again. Kante4 (talk) 14:36, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- They say the pots in the draw. Here's the link: https://watch.hockey/video/934350?from=%2Finterstitial%2F934350&t=0 ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:38, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- I am not changing it to be difficult but they do say it in the draw. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:40, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- Tbh, if you need to log in to watch, better not use it as a reference as it cant be verified quickly imo (not sure about the guidelines though). Looked at YT but was nothing there and no news article posted as far as i can see (what a bad move). Kante4 (talk) 14:43, 13 August 2026 (UTC)

- I don't understand what is wrong with the logging in to watch. Making an account does take two seconds. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:45, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- I do not want to log in there for example, so now i cant verify it. And did you read BRD? You did revert again... You were bold and added something, i reverted and then you should start a discussion (what i have done) and it gets not added back unless the discussion is over. Doing that is disruptive so please remove it again. Kante4 (talk) 14:47, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- But I did log in and I can verify what they said the seeding was. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:49, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- If you select a country then in the world rankings page then you can see their ranking before the draw. Also, on the men's side, I found an archive which shows the rankings before the draw. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:48, 13 August 2026 (UTC)

You dont get what i want. Where was it said that they used the world rankings? And you still did not answer about the BRD thing and why you revert again... Kante4 (talk) 15:00, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- I had reverted before you made that previous comment. On your Where was it said that they used the world rankings? point, I deleted that bit for now. But in the draw video, they do say the seeding and mention the world rankings as the reasoning for the seeding before every pot is drawn. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 15:09, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
- Still BRD is clear and status quo stays (how it was before you added something) and that was without the seeding, which are still there. And again, dont think a video behind a login wall is good to use. It should stay removed until the matter is cleared. Kante4 (talk) 15:14, 13 August 2026 (UTC)

WikiCup 2026 September newsletter
The fourth round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 29 August at 23:59 (UTC). Everyone who competed in round 4 will advance to round 5 unless they have withdrawn or been removed. Round 4 was competitive, though slightly less so than round 3. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points; six scored over 500; and nine scored over 300. Each of the top five competitors had hundreds of points accumulated from multiple GAs. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,318 points, mostly from 13 good articles and 3 featured articles about creeks and Chinese and Japanese subjects
Vanderwaalforces (submissions) with 1,208 points from 2 featured articles, 2 featured lists, and 12 good articles about African leaders, along with over two dozen reviews
A.Cython (submissions) with 1,084 points from 16 good articles and a small good topic about warfare and Greek elections, along with over two dozen reviews
Vestrian24Bio (submissions) with 955 points, mostly from 2 FLs, 2 featured topics, and 16 GAs about cricket, and almost two dozen reviews
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 837 points from 4 FLs and 8 GAs about figure skating, along with two dozen reviews
The full scores for round 4 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 10 featured articles, 11 featured lists, 8 featured-topic articles, 103 good articles, 6 good-topic articles and more than 30 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 11 In the News articles, and they have conducted 170 peer reviews, FA and GA reviews. The tournament points table has been updated.
Remember that any content promoted after 29 August but before the start of Round 5 can be claimed in Round 5.
