TenshiBot 6, again

Hi DreamRimmer. I would like to ask for permission to change this task to be automatic/manual when necessary. I have resolved the issues affecting the reliability of replacements, and the remaining issues have been ironed out enough that they're not an issue or handleable via manual operation. Tenshi! (Talk page) 21:35, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response. You may switch between automatic and manual as needed, but please keep it sufficiently supervised to ensure nothing breaks, as the task is complex enough that a fully automated run may not be appropriate. – DreamRimmer 15:17, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
I don't think that supervision is necessary for the task overall since its been pretty error-free over 3 months of manual edits, though an initial supervision period may be better? I can agree that the task shouldn't be left running constantly during this (or alternatively only running constantly at a slow rate so that errors can be picked up from checking). Tenshi! (Talk page) 20:16, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
To clarify, do you mean supervision in the same way as the BRFA js request form ("all edits are reviewed soon after being made") or is it meant in the typical sense? Tenshi! (Talk page) 12:54, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
@Tenshi Hinanawi: I didn't mean that all edits should be reviewed soon after being made. What I meant was that you should keep an eye on the edits in a way that allows you to catch any issues if something breaks. – DreamRimmer 13:44, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying, I hadn't thought of the usual meaning until I revisited this today. Will be vigilant. Tenshi! (Talk page) 21:13, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

Bot request

Hello, since you have done something similar in the past, would you mind running a bot to fix extra quotation marks in this search query: insource:/publisher *= *\"[^"]+\" *\|/? Thanks in advance, 1234qwer1234qwer4 07:35, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

So we will be removing the quotation marks from the publisher parameter value? What is the approximate number of pages affected? The regex search times out, so only partial results are available, but I believe there are more than 2,500 pages. Please feel free to file a bot task for DreamRimmer bot at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/DreamRimmer bot 7 on my behalf, or I will do so when I have some time over the next two days. – DreamRimmer 15:05, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
The number would need a database scan; maybe @John of Reading could provide a number? As for the bot request, no hurry, thanks for your willingness. 1234qwer1234qwer4 04:58, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
I tweaked the regex a little and found 584 matches in the 1 February 2026 dump. The list is in User:John of Reading/X3. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:19, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
Regexes are tricky. My tweaked regex correctly avoids the false match at Melitta Rühn, where the original regex crosses into the next citation, but omits examples where the publisher is a piped link. I'll have a think. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:52, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks, John, for the list of pages. I am processing these pages now. 584 looks easy enough to handle with my alt account, so I am not going through a BRFA. – DreamRimmer 12:48, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

Done Edited 574 pages. Skipped 13 pages.

Error in the March 2026 administrators' newsletter

Hi DreamRimmer! Hope you are doing well. I wanted to let you know that the links to steward elections in this edition of WP:ADMINNEWS are incorrect. Instead of linking to m:Stewards/Elections 2026/Statements/<Username>, the message links to m:Stewards/Elections 2025/Statements/<Username>. Would you be able to run your MassMessage fix bot? Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 19:17, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

Fixed. – DreamRimmer 00:46, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

User:DreamRimmer bot II

Hello, DreamRimmer,

DreamRimmer bot II has not been updating its G13 report as it usually does hourly. Can you check and make sure there aren't any problems? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 19:20, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Fixed. It was stopped due to a database schema change. – DreamRimmer 16:47, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Mackensen/Reports/All unsourced station articles

Thanks for the fix. Is there a report I can read on the schema change? The report is running again, but it's duplicating some rows. I'm happy to dig into it myself. Thanks again, Mackensen (talk) 22:51, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

You can find more details about this change here. If you want to remove duplicate rows, you can add DISTINCT right after SELECT. – DreamRimmer 02:41, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

NPP drive leaderboard and CharlieRidesRollerCoasters

Your latest edit to User:DreamRimmer bot III/Task 1/Drives/2026-JanFeb New Page Patrol/leaderboard 2 has added back the row for CharlieRidesRollerCoasters even though their user talk page has been removed from the list of participants. Please remove the row for CharlieRidesRollerCoasters from the leaderboard if possible. GTrang (talk) 01:29, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

Very curious to join this CharlieRidesRollerCoasters (talk) 02:08, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Please feel free to remove them. – DreamRimmer 02:44, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
I have removed CharlieRidesRollerCoasters' row from the leaderboard myself. GTrang (talk) 19:48, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

Drive points

Hey DreamRimmer. It appears that my cleanup edits during reviews, which I've marked with "MAR26REVIEW" in the edit summaries, are being counted towards my point total for the drive... JTtheOG (talk) 08:28, 8 March 2026 (UTC)

I'm not on the unreferenced article drive leaderboard

I should have 7 points but I don't appear at the leaderboard at all. Signing up again on the participants page didn't seem to help. Only reason I can come up with is that my signature doesn't link to my userpage; could you help me out? Mach61 02:35, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

The Signpost: 10 March 2026

  • Special report: What actually happened during the Wikimedia security incident?
A horrifying exploit took place, which could have had catastrophic and far-reaching consequences if used maliciously; instead, it seems to have happened by accident and was used for childish vandalism. How did this happen, and what did the script actually do?

User:DreamRimmer bot II

Hello, DreamRimmer,

Just thought I'd drop you a note that this bot didn't post notifications for stale drafts or its G13 report on time this morning. It's pretty reliable so I thought I'd let you know in case this needs to be looked into. Once again, thanks for all of your continued assistance on the project. Liz Read! Talk! 18:44, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Cancel the alarm! It looks like that problem has been resolved on its own. Sorry to bother you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:02, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
Thank you for thinking outside the box with the two month NPP backlog drive idea, and for all the extra work that went along with running this kind of backlog drive. It is worth changing the format every once in awhile to see if we can stumble upon something better than the status quo. I am glad we tried it and I appreciate all the work you put into it. –Novem Linguae (talk) 01:37, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
