Welcome to the 2026 WikiCup!
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2026 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here, and a bot will set up your submissions page within one day, ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.
For the 2026 WikiCup, the highest-ranking contestants will receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. This is the same scoring system that we had last year. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants are no longer eliminated at the end of each round.
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Help with Magickal Weirdness
Hello which source(s) are unreliable on the “Magickal Weirdness” page? I coulda sworn there was actually one that said “blog” or something on its link, (which ik is a no go) however it is not a blog it is a dedicated music review website. And it also no longer says “blog” anywhere. I also did add one more source this morning. But I can make any revisions later today if required. Splashmoney15 (talk) 15:39, 16 January 2026 (UTC)

- Wow, New Page Reviewer of the Year. Congrats!
- Continuing our conversation from Beanie's talk page... Do you ever look at AfC? I feel like the vast majority of drafts are AI-assisted. Seriously, it's crazy. I basically just assume that any "newbie" AfC draft is AI-assisted unless proven otherwise (and new users are the only ones using AfC anyway). I pretty much only look at FloridaArmy's drafts nowadays because I know that he's doing stuff manually. I think a lot of articles from new users in the NPP feed are AI-assisted too. It's hard to tell sometimes though. People can rework the article to get rid of the easy AI "tells" while still leaving in hallucinations.
- For example, I think short articles like this could even be AI-assisted. There aren't any typos and the references are formatted neatly (see this from the same user for further evidence). I believe this from a different user is definitely AI-assisted. When I write long articles I always have typos while that article doesn't have any. The lack of typos or grammar mistakes in new articles (short or long) nowadays is really telling. And those are literally the first articles I clicked on.
- Sorry if this is long-winded. Do you come across AI a lot when doing NPP? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 16:23, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry for messaging you again before you even had a chance to respond to my original message but I wanted to add some further evidence for my suspicions. I've left PutABoatOnTheWater a message in the past about using AI to generate articles but I believe they are still doing it. KiJuan Ware is a long article and has no grammar mistakes. (And yes I'm just linking URLs instead of piping because I don't want to give someone a linking notification somehow. Not trying to call anyone out, just listing examples lol) 10 years ago, very few newbie sports editors were making "perfect" start-class articles like this without any mistakes. And that article pretty much is perfect except for the lack of SIGCOV.
- Thanks for enduring my rant. Sorry for being annoying. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:00, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: Hey! A large part of what I do at NPP is knocking out short articles from very experienced editors (i.e. politicians meeting NPOL, towns meeting NGEO, bugs meeting NSPECIES, young footballers meeting NSPORT, disambs, etc.), many of which should probably be autopatrolled by now (I should make that initiative tbf). My eyes just gravitate towards the same usernames I've seen dozens or hundreds of times.
- When I spot AI language, I quickly check the sources to see if the article could qualify for G15. I'm really glad they added that criteria. But yeah, this wave of AI content has made me extremely weary of reviewing, for example, species articles any longer than 2 or 3 sentences. Anything more than that, and I get suspicious because of how easy it is to conceal now. Or articles on military subjects... Aside from being out of my wheelhouse, lots of articles on battles or army units just reek of LLM usage now, but I could say the same for many topics. So I mostly stick to sports, politics, geography, as well as my previously mentioned frequent customers.
- I think I tried reviewing some AfC drafts a while back after being invited to the process, but I was unable to figure it out. Maybe you could help me get back into it? And yeah, I think it's not a bad idea to assume that a large proportion of the newbie userbase is unfortunately using AI in some way or another. This is probably more true for non-native English speakers, to whom I imagine AI-generated language sounds very well-written.
- As for the examples, that's a good point about perfect grammar. There's also something about the way it's so succinctly summarized and organized, almost as if gathered and put together by a computer..... Cuz there's the long-winded, flowery language (droning on about underscoring, highlighting, reflecting the importance of blahblah), but there's also this perfectly(?) executed short&sweet summary of facts that it does now too. But yes, it will only get harder and harder to tell as both LLM tools improve and editors better learn how to use them (and how to hide their use). (Also,
*criollismo*
is 100% a sign of AI use, right? I always find it funny when the LLM messes up the markup.) - P.S. doesn't the Ware article pretty much just very closely paraphrase the sources? JTtheOG (talk) 19:36, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- You stated all that perfectly. Great catch about *criollismo*. I didn't see that. As for Ware, I'm just skeptical of any long drafts that have perfect grammar and spelling....
- I know what you mean about those obscure military articles. I always skip those... ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:43, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

Question
Hi JTtheOG, I'm wondering why the two articles I created (2026 Arkansas Razorbacks football team and 2026 LSU Tigers football team) both fall under WP:DRAFTIFY? Sorry I'm late by the way. Dylan Hackworth1 (talk) 02:34, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Dylan Hackworth1: Hey Dylan. As per WP:DRAFTREASON,
Common reasons for incubating an article to draftspace as an alternative to deletion include... 3. The article is about an upcoming event or forthcoming work that is not notable yet, but likely to become so in the near future
- The athletic program's website and fbschedules.com is not sufficient coverage to warrant an article with all empty sections nine months before the start of the season.
- Please see the comments at Draft:2026 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, for example. I encourage you to work on the articles in draftspace, filling out information about the coaching staff and recruits/transfers with strong sources. Thank you. JTtheOG (talk) 19:28, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

- As I said I appreciate your contributions, but Wikipedia doesn't grant ownership of topics or entitlement. Please focus on constructive edits rather than following my edits. I just decided not to address them as they show patterns from the same contributor. Wieditor25 (talk) 03:51, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
2026 Kentucky Wildcats football team
You moved 2026 Kentucky Wildcats football team to draft space without stating a reason. Please justify this action. Thank you for your attention to this matter. rogerd (talk) 16:07, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
- I have made several additions to the article with references about the new coaching staff, which as you know, is not unusual when a new head coach is hired. Again, I am concerned that you moved the article without explaining your reasons for doing so. I think you will find that it is referenced as well, if not better than similar articles of other 2026 SEC teams Auburn, Georgia and Missouri. --rogerd (talk) 02:13, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
Draftification of 2026 season articles
As we have discussed elsewhere, consensus at the college football project is that we don't allow creation of season articles until the prior season has ended. We do permit such articles to be created, at a minimum for major teams, once the prior season has ended. Despite this consensus, you have in the past few days draftified several major college season articles, including such major teams as 2026 Kentucky Wildcats football team, 2026 LSU Tigers football team, 2026 Texas Longhorns football team, 2026 Purdue Boilermakers football team and 2026 Illinois Fighting Illini football team. I have now moved these back to main space. Let me know if you disagree. Cbl62 (talk) 13:19, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- NOTE: I did not move some such articles back to mainspace which were of particularly low quality. E.g., Draft:2026 Oregon Ducks football team. Perhaps a broader discussion is needed at the college football project about minimum quality/content/sourcing standards for when an article can/should be allowed in main space. January–February 2026 NPP drive - Phase 2

Welcome to Phase 2 of the January–February 2026 NPP drive. During Phase 1, we reviewed 16,658 articles and 4,416 redirects, and there is currently a backlog of 16,475 articles and 23,782 redirects in the queue. Fantastic job! Completing 22,502 patrols in the first phase made a significant dent in the backlog. Let's keep our foot on the gas for Phase 2, and I hope we can achieve even more reviews than Phase 1. Best of luck!

Article for Deletion Discussion
I would like to support keeping Shovon Ahmed article. The subject appears to meet Wikipedia’s notability guidelines because there is coverage from independent and reliable sources. I believe the article can be improved further by adding additional citations, improving neutrality, and expanding verifiable information. Deletion may remove useful encyclopedic content. Instead, improving sourcing and formatting would better align the article with Wikipedia standards. I am willing to help improve the article by adding reliable references and ensuring it follows Wikipedia policies. Arman360Editor (talk) 03:08, 5 February 2026 (UTC)

Inquiry about 2026 North Dakota State Bison football team page
Hi JTtheOG! I discussed with you about the 2026 NDSU football page back in early January, and agreed with you that the page was too early. I have been maintaining and developing the page in Draftspace (Draft:2026 North Dakota State Bison football team. However, I just discovered that a page was created with the exact data from my draft article and put into articlespace. Both the draft and this new article exists. This was not me that did this, in fact more than before I think the article should stay in draftspace where I am maintaining it specifically because with the move to FBS - there is no schedule. The roster table on the page is incorrect since there is no 2026 roster yet and the ref link goes to the 2025 roster. I don't want to over step and propose deletion before I understand what exactly I should do here. Is proposing deletion the right thing here? Either way this article technically has no valid sources and the data on the entire page is invalid. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated!! Thanks! natethegreat4226 (talk) 06:05, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @Natethegreat4226: Sorry to hear that. I've PRODded the article in hopes of clearing the way for your draft, which I think can definitely be moved to mainspace. Think of all the coverage that has come from the FBS move alone. I'm sure they've had changes to the coaching staff and plenty of transfer portal movement as well. Happy editing and good luck this season! JTtheOG (talk) 06:16, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! I will get to work and add some transfer portal and staff movement. I had the transfer portal on my todo list, but coach movement did not cross my mind. I figure once the MWC schedule is announced and the other sources are added, I will attempt to move it mainspace. Thank you again for your help, and yeah the Bison might need it! natethegreat4226 (talk) 06:20, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @JTtheOG: this has seemingly happened again that someone got impatient and just created an 2026 NDSU football article to mainspace even though I have an open draft. Is there anything we can do about this? natethegreat4226 (talk) 17:30, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

- @Derek R Bullamore: Thanks Derek. I appreciate it. The funny thing is that I was sort of avoiding that section myself in hopes someone with more experience on music articles could lend a hand! But I could give it a shot. Cheers, JTtheOG (talk) 22:42, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

- @Derek R Bullamore: The problem can sometimes be distinguishing between albums and mixtapes. Early on, they're all mixtapes, but it can get hard to tell after they make their major label debut, since they might drop a mixtape here and there in between the albums. This gets especially difficult if their popularity dies down a bit after their initial success, since the releases stop getting as much media coverage explicitly describing them as one or the other. Plus, their labels might be less willing to spend the money on a full studio album. JTtheOG (talk) 05:29, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Please defend your crown at WP:MAR26
Hi. When you have a moment to pause and take a break from demolishing the NPP backlog...please do consider signing up for the WP:MAR26 Unreferenced article backlog drive to once again defend your crown. (Note: We are going back to using the Edit summary tool (due to problems with the Hashtag summary method), so while we're encouraging editors to use [[WP:MAR26]] in their summaries, strictly speaking any text containing "MAR26" should work (#MAR26, etc.). WikiCup 2026 March newsletter
The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1,467 round points, largely gained from 1 featured article, 5 featured lists, 15 good articles, and 42 FAC and GAN reviews;
Olliefant (submissions) with 1,246 round points, largely from 4 featured lists, 9 good articles, 2 featured topic articles, 4 did you know articles, and 75 FAC and GAN reviews;
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,095 round points, largely from 3 featured articles, 6 good articles, and 5 did you know articles;
MCE89 (submissions) with 848 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 32 FAC and GAN reviews; and
Rollinginhisgrave (submissions) with 838 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 14 FAC, GAN, and peer reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table will be updated within the next few days.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hello! Thank you for all your hard work. In a number of recent edits (about 9 I think) you have misspelt Encyclopedia
as Encylopedia
, that is, omitting the second C. These are all in articles that take the form 19xx in Libya
. You can see them listed here. Would you mind correcting them please? I usually do it myself but I haven't come across so many in a batch before!

Reviewing AfC for Historical Dictionary of Switzerland
Hello,
I saw you've reviewed many of the articles I created using the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland (HDS) (example). Thanks a lot for that!
There's actually many, many more that should be created, so I would like to get the help from some people from my non-profit OKA for it. However, because they receive a grant from OKA, they are considered paid editors and therefore can only publish articles through Articles for Creation (AfC).
Typically the AfC process works fine, but in this particular case I worry that AfC reviewers will just decline the articles because they will see they have a single source only (as they won't be familiar with HDS). So I think it could help if we had 1-2 people like yourself who could review the AfC articles related to HDS? If you agree, we could find some kind of mechanism (e.g., an on-wiki or off-wiki list) to track the HDS articles that need review.
Let me know what you think 7804j (talk) 07:43, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Orientación
Hola!
Carigval.97 (talk) 02:34, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

More AI?
I just know this is AI too: Continental Football League (2026) (at least the first diff before other people started editing it) I'm sure it's notable but I can't bring myself to patrol anything unless it's from a non-AI editor. People assume good faith way too much on this stuff. No has one any typos anymore except me. Also no one posts bare URLs as references anymore. Every ref is always just a title and an italicized publisher like at the Continental Football League (2026)#References. Newish editors didn't used to make these perfect articles. People used to make stubs. And I'm supposed to believe everyone is just doing this stuff by themselves? lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:36, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: My bad, just seeing this now. Definitely AI. The "[1][2]" fake citations are always funny. I hate how much it sounds like corpo-speak slop, too. Corporate press releases and LLMs were made for eachother. JTtheOG (talk) 21:36, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

About My Review Speed
Hi @JTtheOG, I wanted to reach out because I took your feedback from April 5th to heart regarding my patrolling speed.
Because of your comment, I've significantly adjusted my work to prioritize the article's depth over the article's volume. I have slowed down my reviewing speed to only ~4 articles a minute: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_reports/Top_new_article_reviewers. And I’m trying to spend even more time on complex pages.
As someone who earned Reviewer of the Year in 2024 and 2025 for a reason, I’d value your honest take: do you still consider 4 a minute too fast for the types of articles I'm hitting? I’m trying to eliminate errors, and my reviews present to readers of Wikipedia as high-quality, not high-volume. Thanks for the guidance and for all the work you do for the project. CostalCal (talk) 07:52, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @CostalCal:, that seems pretty reasonable to me. I generally hover somewhere around that rate too (1-4 a.p.m.), but like I said, there are certainly no set rules and there will be situations where you can bang some out in very quick succession, such as surnames, disambiguations, or very-obviously-notable two- or three-sentence stubs. However, 12 or 14 per minute does start wading into dangerous waters, and there is a lot one could potentially miss if they're consistently approaching those numbers. I'm glad to hear that you've slowed down a bit in order to better scrutinize each article. This will undoubtedly result in higher quality reviews, just as you've pointed out. Once again, thank you for putting a big dent in the unreviewed articles backlog. Your help is very much appreciated. JTtheOG (talk) 08:16, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Also, why did you remove the fv tags on Buhera North? I didn't see the name of the constituency anywhere in the source, unless I'm missing something. JTtheOG (talk) 08:20, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Premise?
Hi @JTtheOG! I want to express my gratitude for your work reviewing the articles I created <3 I also have a question.
Since I create film articles that are usually about upcoming films or those only playing at festivals at the time the articles are created, I typically include only a Premise section that I paraphrase from reliable sources, rather than a full Plot summary. Recently, I noticed that someone copied and pasted the actual premise into one of the articles. In the back of my mind, I think that's not allowed. I'd like to ask if you remember the basis for this so I can undo the edit. From what I’ve read, the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Film only addresses Plot Summary.
Thank you! Have a nice day. Semampunya (talk) 13:15, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello JTtheOG,
as I've noticed that you reviewed Kerrice Brooks and Bella Shepard (thank you), I wondered if you could also review Draft:Karim Diané
Someone else published it as a draft way back in 2021 and it was reviewed multiple times since, before the new Star Trek series even aired, and at this time, it was considered as not yet relevant enough. Now it seems to be stuck in a rejection limbo, even though the actor has gained international prominence for his performance as first gay Klingon in the Star Trek franchise and recently was anounced as an honoree by the Critics Choice Association. WikiCup 2026 May newsletter
The second round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 28 April. As a reminder for contestants who just joined or are unaware of recent changes to our round-points system, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 2 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points; nine scored over 500; and fourteen scored over 300. The top seven contestants had at least one featured article (two of them with two apiece). The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
MCE89 (submissions) with 1,333 points, mainly from good and featured articles about Australian people and geography
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,169 points, mainly from good and featured articles related to shipping ethics controversy in fanfiction, waterways, and Gu Yanwu
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1,149 points, mainly from good articles, featured articles, and featured lists about figure skating, along with many article reviews and two good topics
Olliefant (submissions) with 830 points, mainly from good and featured articles about television shows, episodes and media, along with nearly four dozen good and featured article reviews
Gommeh (submissions) with 827 points, mainly from good and featured articles related to Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail
The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 12 featured articles, 13 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 106 good articles, 22 good-topic articles and more than 40 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 3 In the News articles, and they have conducted over 200 reviews. The tournament points table has been updated.
Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Am I missing something?
At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayny Balata, the article was kept despite no one actually citing any sources... I looked at all of the sources in the article myself and this was literally the best one. There was nothing else close to independent or SIGCOV. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 12:32, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: Nope, nothing at all. I just put up a white flag and choose to respect Peaceray's additions to the article despite no actual SIGCOV getting added. I mean he claimed that Canada Soccer and the American Conference were independent sources lol. Plus, I had just been admonished for my apparent sexism at another AfD, so didn't wanna hurt this person's feelings any more. JTtheOG (talk) 15:51, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

- No consensus even though Peaceray is saying the ESPN database shows notability and that the college conference is indendepent. LOL. "ESPN is a reliable source. Adminship
Hi JTtheOG, I have officially nominated you for the May 2026 Administrator Elections. Please stop by to accept the nomination and answer the candidate questions whenever you're ready! I hope I did the nomination correctly. CostalCal (talk) 04:21, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- @CostalCal I sincerely hope you didn't make a nomination page for somebody without speaking to them first. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:59, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- That did cross my mind, but I wasn't certain enough to actually say it here. @JT is a fantastic candidate... however something like an administrator nomination requires weeks or even months of prior communication beforehand. 11WB (talk) 18:58, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- @11WB ehhh, not necessarily. Some people have approached me and others in the very last day of AELECT and went for it. Some people do plan a while ahead and it benefits them greatly, while others have been ready for a while and say "screw it", and go for it. It's so very hard to generalize that sort of thing.
- Now with all that said.... I'm quite confident JT would make a good admin, but it's very important that a nomination be made with their consent and not be a surprise. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:08, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- In addition to many highly experienced editors not being interested in adminship, the nominator is informally expected to be an admin or otherwise someone with more experience than the nominee. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 19:02, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- There are a number of non-admins who are highly respected who would make excellent nominators, but they're not usually interested in doing so. It's just that those who are most interested in helping others become admins are already admins. But I'd also argue some candidates I've nominated have had way more experience than me! I do get what you were trying to say though :) Hey man im josh (talk) 21:06, 1 May 2026 (UTC)

Questions about New Page Patrol
Hello, I was recently granted new page reviewer permissions and I've been trying to work on the backlog drive for May 2026. However, I'm a little confused as to how the review process works. Since you seem to be very experienced with new page patrolling and Wikipedia in general, I wanted to ask you about when to mark a page as "reviewed". Should a page only be marked as reviewed if it doesn't warrant some sort of maintenance tag, or can you mark it as reviewed as long as you tag it for those issues? What is considered "not enough" for something to be reviewed, and if it doesn't meet standards what other routes can be taken for it?
For instance, take the page AMRO. It isn't reviewed, and a previous reviewer has left a talk page notification that says it needs more established notability. Should I tage it as such and mark it reviewed, or what? Thanks, DoO2 02:33, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Dog Oxide: Hi there. Usually it comes down to notability. Looking at the content and the sources will give you a good idea of its notability, and you'll eventually get better at identifying what types of articles are easy WP:GNG/WP:SNG passes.
- The second source in the AMRO article is a multiple-page article in an academic journal, so that's a very good start. There is also this paper, which is even longer. I'd say you can confidently review that one since it's covered in-depth in multiple independent sources. Just tag it with "more citations" needed (all the leaders aren't sourced) and check for copyvio. JTtheOG (talk) 02:44, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- And you can definitely mark as reviewed while tagging, but wait an hour before tagging articles up, and try not to add more than two or three. If an article is of questionable notability, it never hurts to send it to AfD. JTtheOG (talk) 02:54, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- Great, thanks so much for the quick, concise, and non-bitey reply! Is there a way to install that copyvio detector as a plugin? It seems really handy! Thanks, DoO2 03:11, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- No problem. And not that I know of, no. JTtheOG (talk) 03:21, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- Huh, someone should really make that. Also, one more thing: is there a good tool to use for checking LLM-usage? I've been pretty paranoid recently about AI usage in writing new articles given its prevalence, and I'm just wondering what you do for that. DoO2 03:22, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- I put some links on Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2026. I think of the clearest/most common signs is WP:OVERATTRIBUTION. It sounds unnatural to constantly say where information came from when it's supposedly already said in the source attached to it. The Undetectable.ai website is good sometimes but not too reliable. JTtheOG (talk) 03:27, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

- @Dog Oxide For a quicker way to get to a copyvio check, you can install User:Novem Linguae/Scripts/NPPLinks. That gives you, among other things, a Copyvio check link in the left hand pane. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:46, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

WAKO championships series
Hi there. We've both draftified some of this series of articles that have been created for lacking sources. The original author has been moving them back basically unaltered. Do we have a plan going forward? It's a hell of a lot of work to search for sources for someone who doesn't want to do it themselves. Boynamedsue (talk) 07:01, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Boynamedsue: If they move it back, you can just send it to AfD and mention that the article creator immediately moved the draftified article back to mainspace. A before search doesn't have to be comprehensive, especially when the creator isn't being bothered to look for any sourcing and is disruptively moving the pages back.
- Scroll through a couple Google search results and maybe try a few different languages, while ignoring primary sources like the WAKO or national federations. The few independent sources will probably not contain in-depth coverage, but you can include the beefiest sources in your AfD nomination.
- I like to add something like "-instagram.com -facebook.com -tiktok.com -YouTube.com -x.com -twitter.com -reddit.com -pinterest.com -linkedin.com -threads.com" to my google searches to filter out all the annoying social media links. You can add wako.sport to that too. JTtheOG (talk) 17:51, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll give that a go.Boynamedsue (talk) 18:02, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know that there are people who are warning that they will remove any AI-generated templates from articles if there are not also parallel discussions started on the talk page, so unfortunately, it looks like you have to tag articles in two places now. You may be able to help
Hi there, JTtheOG, and thanks for your tremendous efforts in connection with page reviews. At the moment, I'm faced with a pretty sticky problem. While I am by no means a proponent of articles created by family or close contacts, I was recently asked by the creator and father of Kai Vetch (see my talk page) to assess its rating. After looking through the article and taking into account the assessments by Ores and Rater, I promoted the article to B class. I have now been informed that the article has been deleted and see that this was on the basis of insufficient valid citations and poor prose. Without some kind of support, it appears to me that further attempts at recreating article will again lead to deletion. I also wonder whether it is perhaps premature to write an article about someone who has participated only in the 2026 Ginetta Junior Championship but am not sufficiently familiar with any rules relating to motor sports. I see however that none of the other participants have biographies. If this is the case, then the "too soon" conclusion of the deleting reviewer may indeed be justified. Nevertheless, the article seems to me to have sufficient valid citations and I could find no major faults with the prose. I would therefore appreciate any advice you could could provide in this connection. In particular, it would be useful to have some suggestions from you on how to respond to the article's creator.--Ipigott (talk) 11:23, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
- I see that Road Atlanta Turn 5 is making a serious attempt at improving the draft. It therefore looks as if it will be moved back to mainspace soon.--Ipigott (talk) 08:54, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Ipigott: Hello, I appreciate your attention to this matter. I must preface by saying that I am by no means an expert on motorsports. I have noticed that many auto racing bios of questionable notability have been expanded to impressive lengths, possibly due to the many different competitions that racers participate in. However, I also know that Road Atlanta Turn 5 is one of our best editors in the auto racing project. While I have no comment on the subject's notability yet, I am certainly glad that someone with this experience can clean up the article, since I'm not comfortable with articles created by family either. Thank you for all you do! JTtheOG (talk) 18:26, 19 May 2026 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Yemoh Ike
Hello JTtheOG. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Yemoh Ike, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The subject in question has produced a film that was screened at Cannes. This is enough to not be eligible for A7. Thank you. BangJan1999 16:35, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. seasons 2011–12 & 2012–13
Hello JTtheOG. Thank you for your suggestions to improve notability for 2011–12 Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. season and 2012–13 Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. season. I am working on a project to record the previous football campaigns since women's football turned professional in 2010. I have been working backwards from the current 2025-26 campaign. I understand why these seasons were not ready for going live and I have now begun making amendments. The previous campaign seasons are part of the Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. department which has increasing notability as a club but understand as this gets further back there is less famililarity. APDHistorian (talk) 20:30, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- @APDHistorian: Hello! That's a very noble project indeed, but the articles you publish must contain independent coverage from WP:RS, just like any other page. The articles were only sourced to the FA and club website (non-independent) and a blog (not reliable). Cheers! JTtheOG (talk) 20:36, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- I totally agree with the WP:RS but I find it a little sexist that there can be articles for men's teams going back over 100 years but for the women's teams it is harder to gain relevance. All I am trying to do is collect historical sources for the women's team to put them on equal parity to the men's team. What is so different that allows this to remain 2012–13 Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. season but 2012–13 Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. season is not permitted? APDHistorian (talk) 21:05, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- @APDHistorian: I find it a little disrespectful and dismissive to refer to my actions as sexist. I'm a new page reviewer, and I came across an article (regardless of the subject) that had zero independent coverage, so I draftified it to allow you (or anyone) to continue improving the sourcing until it's ready for publishing. The difference is that that other article was created in 2012, predating my time on Wikipedia, and I was not the person who marked it as reviewed (although they were justified, since an EFL Championship season gets more coverage than probably most first-tier leagues around the world).
- Second, these cases are just not comparable, other than the name on the front of the jersey. I could be 100% wrong, but I have doubts the women's side had an average home attendance of 26,000, or the same amount of TV viewers every week, or (most importantly in our case), the same amount of newspaper coverage being written about them. As you mentioned, these were the early stages. They also played in the English third tier, while the men's team played in the second tier. That's not to say they don't deserve the same attention, respect, or salary than their male counterparts. They put in just as much work and sacrifice, and possibly even more when considering other societal factors. But unfortunately, sports remains one of the most sexist industries there is, and men's pro sports in particular have been pushed, marketed, and invested in for over a century.
- Many editors like myself are committed to improving coverage on women's biographies through WP:WIRED, which organizes monthly and yearly initiatives to tackle our site's content gap, where just over 20% of biographies are about women. However, what we cannot do is lower the existing standards to try to correct this clear injustice. Wikipedia articles reflect the amount of coverage that exists on a given subject, not the amount we would like to exist. Instead, we should try to focus on creating robustly sourced articles on women subjects, which we all know they deserve. Once again, I commend your project and wish you the best of luck going forward. I have no doubt these articles have a tremendous amount of untapped potential. There very well might be a swath of independent coverage about either or both of these seasons.
- A great resource that I can recommend is the WP:LIBRARY, which gives you access to many, many sites such as Newspapers.com and NewspaperArchive (although your account needs to be a few months old). I see that 2001–02 Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. season already has a few independent sources, so that's a great start. Happy editing, and let me know if you have further questions. JTtheOG (talk) 21:48, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Apologies, I didn't mean to infer your actions were sexist, you're just doing your best to infer the rules which I agree with otherwise anything would end up published. I was just commenting on general unconscious bias which is something I think everyone can be guilty of unintentionally. My reasons for improving resources and articles on Wikipedia was that I want more people that want to learn about the women's team. I personally have a distrust of AI and value that Wikipedia is force of good to tackle this and I'm 100% committed to providing accurate sources. APDHistorian (talk) 22:14, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- @APDHistorian: No worries. I understand your point. We are certainly vulnerable to these biases. I also have deeply negative attitudes on AI, which represents an existential threat to Wikipedia. Thank you for your commitment to your values. JTtheOG (talk) 22:44, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- I have spent some time on Draft:2012–13 Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. season and I believe it is now ready. I haven't started on 2011-12 yet. I also might wait until I have 500 edits so I can try to use WP:Library to track down even older articles as the articles from 2001 are very hard to find. APDHistorian (talk) 00:16, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the FA would not be considered an independent source. JTtheOG (talk) 00:44, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- Other women's pages like 2011-12 FA Women's CUP cite the football association alone because it's a neutral governing body, so I struggle to understand your point how the FA isn't considered independent? Surely news articles are less reliable than a neutral governing body because news articles like BBC News would often cite the relevant governing body. APDHistorian (talk) 11:16, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

- Thank you for the newspaper resources. I will look into it as I do value accurate sources. How long do draftspace articles take to be reviewed by the way? Does it go to another reviewer and not back to you? APDHistorian (talk) 22:37, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Just shoot me message and I should be able to help you move it back. JTtheOG (talk) 22:47, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- I have added sources for Draft:2012–13 Brighton & Hove Albion W.F.C. season to the relevant independent governing bodies of the football association and Sussex Football Association documents. I also wish to point out that the wiki article 2011-12 FA Women's Cup citations are solely from the football association. APDHistorian (talk) 11:22, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing this out. I have tagged that page as overly reliant on primary sources. Brighton & Hove Albion is not independent from the FA because it is a member club of said organization, so they have a direct relationship.
- The General notability guideline says:
A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
JTtheOG (talk) 21:21, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
- While official governing body statistics systems are fully permitted under WP:PRIMARY to verify non-controversial factual data like scorelines and match dates, I have updated the references to resolve your concerns. The draft now integrates independent, third-party regional journalistic sources, including local sports coverage from seagulls.co.uk, to provide robust secondary verification (WP:SECONDARY) for the 2012–13 fixtures and management structure. I wish to remind you it is common practice to reference the football governing body for results as the 2012–13 FA Women's Premier League article has done so.
Speedy deletion declined: Moses Shipi
Hello JTtheOG. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Moses Shipi, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Chair of a political party notable enough to have its own article is a credible enough claim to notability for A7. Take it to AfD if required. Thank you. GedUK 08:47, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

Want to join Wiki Loves Fútbol?

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Fútbol! We're running it during the 2026 World Cup, starting now until July 19. Help us edit pages on everything futbol: think national teams from across Latin America, players, host cities, and the stuff around the cup that usually gets short shrift, like the immigration and culture angles. We're working in both English and Spanish.
Here's the fun part: it's set up like a Panini sticker album. You collect stamps for different kinds of contributions: editing an article, adding a photo over on Wikimedia Commons, doing a translation, or starting a Wikidata item. Fill the album first to win $200. That’s not all: we are also giving out $25 prizes to the “Player of the Match” every week the contest runs. You don't have to be a power editor to play. Everyone is welcome!
If you're a little curious, come take a look at our target articles. Do you think we are missing some good articles? We are open to suggestions! The best place to actually get going is our WikiLatinos Discord, that's where the article missions will live, where the leaderboard is, and where someone can point you to a good first edit if you want one.
Hope you'll jump in. Oscar_. (talk) 17:50, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you
Hi JTtheOG, Just wanted to let you know that yesterday I was granted autopatrolled user rights. This means that from now on I won't be spamming you with new soft redirect pages anymore. Thanks again you for hard work. Regards, Mill 1 (talk) 07:53, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
