Thank you today for 2015 Trophée Éric Bompard, introduced: "The 2015 Trophée Éric Bompard would have been just another figure skating competition were it not interrupted by the November 2015 Paris attacks."! - Thank you also for more quality content! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:43, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
I woke up to a Bach cantata, GA by an editor's first review, and it was the first time that I was involved (a bit) in a pictured ITN blurb. More pics of buildings by him on my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:40, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
Happy Holidays!

Hello Bgsu98: Enjoy the holiday season and winter solstice if it's occurring in your area of the world, and thanks for your work to maintain, improve and expand Wikipedia. Cheers, DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 07:34, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

| This is for your help on my first-ever GAN review! Thank you so much for that. I've been nervous to do this, but I think it went quite well. S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) 22:48, 5 January 2026 (UTC) |
Thank you so much! These are the articles that I currently have up for FL/FA consideration if you are so inclined:
- Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Norwegian Figure Skating Championships/archive1
Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final/archive1 (nearing two months in queue)- Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/German Figure Skating Championships/archive1
- Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/2025 U.S. Figure Skating Championships/archive2
They’re a little simpler, because they don’t depend on one reviewer, but a consensus of reviews. Thank you so much if you’re able to help! Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:21, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

- I'm assuming this is only for things from this year or when you signed up, as such I only included my one GAN review that I did after signing up (the other one is still on-going, but it'll go fine too, I'm sure!) S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) 21:42, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
- Anything from 2026. Bgsu98 (Talk) 21:48, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
- Then I'll add my other review. Thanks! Hopefully my other GANs can get reviewed sooner rather than later but I'd rather encourage nominators with no reviews to just...review whatever interests them. I only mention that because those three GANs would obviously help here once they get reviewed and hopefully pass said review. That, and I'll be starting to encourage nominators with 0 reviews to try their hand at reviewing if they want to. Again, thanks. S.G. (They/Them) (Talk) (Edits) 21:51, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 13:04, 21 February 2026 (UTC)@ToBeFree: Ich entschuldige mich.
Bgsu98 (Talk) 01:09, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hallo Bgsu98, alles gut, kein Problem.
~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:57, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
Bgsu98 (Talk) 19:09, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- Pronomen, Adverb ... das ist mir zu hoch.

@ToBeFree: I apologize. You are right; I should have explained myself better the first time. This is a very bad year for me. Our healthcare system here in the USA is truly broken [note: the German word used, verbrochen, literally means 'committed a crime', but the intent is 'broken'], and that has produced a lot of problems for me regarding my mood and my emotions. I am not saying this as an excuse, but simply as an explanation. I had decided to do less on Wikipedia right now – I had a few pending projects in FAC, FLC, and GAN that were important to me – and little else. The results were clearly not very good. I hope to do better in the future. I would like to at least finish these pending projects. I saw that you live in Germany. I am a German teacher here in the USA and have few chances to speak German with anyone else. I hope my German was good enough. Bgsu98 (Talk) 01:09, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

I apologize for my conduct over the last few months. 2026 has been terrible for me; I don't offer that as an excuse, just an explanation. I had already intended to scale back my Wikipedia editing to focus almost exclusively on the projects currently pending at FAC, FLC, and GAN; and to avoid current events. I promise to do better in the future. Bgsu98 (Talk) 04:11, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Ilia Malinin
Hi, can you explain why you brought back Scott Hamilton's comments? Malinin's recent results, together with Lipinski's remarks, are sufficient to establish him as the presumptive favorite. Pizzigs (talk) 19:12, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- His results have nothing to do with the over-the-top, heaping praise and exaltations he received coming into the Olympics. That's why it's in appears before the results. Bgsu98 (Talk) 19:14, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, and that information belongs to his individual article, perhaps in relation to his subsequent collapse in the free skate and the impact of expectations on his performance. Why is it on the tournament page? Pizzigs (talk) 19:19, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Quotes can be trimmed to summarize that multiple sports commentators considered him an overwhelming favorite without giving undue weight to specific opinions. Pizzigs (talk) 19:24, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

WikiCup 2026 March newsletter
The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.
Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:
Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1,467 round points, largely gained from 1 featured article, 5 featured lists, 15 good articles, and 42 FAC and GAN reviews;
Olliefant (submissions) with 1,246 round points, largely from 4 featured lists, 9 good articles, 2 featured topic articles, 4 did you know articles, and 75 FAC and GAN reviews;
Generalissima (submissions) with 1,095 round points, largely from 3 featured articles, 6 good articles, and 5 did you know articles;
MCE89 (submissions) with 848 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 32 FAC and GAN reviews; and
Rollinginhisgrave (submissions) with 838 round points, largely from 1 featured article, 8 good articles, 1 did you know article, and 14 FAC, GAN, and peer reviews.
The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table will be updated within the next few days.
Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. GAR
Hi, I remembered that you closed GA reassessment of BB/Ang3l before. The same nominator (zzz plant) also opened GAR in Songs for You, and most people agreed that there's no more issues to be fixed. However, the nominator is ignoring their nudges and still not closing the GAR page. So I wanna ask you what should I do in this situation; is it possible to close this GA reassessment by myself? Camilasdandelions (✉️) 02:22, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
- I was a bit surprised to see the previous GAR closed without any further copyright input besides mine and yours, and I didn't see anything in the instructions indicating the nominator is required to close the discussion- I have not been attempting to ignore nudges; I just think a third opinion (besides the GAR initiator and the main author) can be helpful. As for this particular article, I believe a closer inspection for CLOP is warranted but I do not object if a third party wants to close it. Zzz plant (talk) 02:40, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

Finnish Figure Skating Championships
Hi. You asked in Finnish Wikipedia about Finnish Figure Skating champions in December 1986 and December 1989. I found them in the Finnish sport year books. Editing that spesific English Wikipedia article seems to be too painful for me, so I include the results and the sources here:
December 13th and 14th 1986 in Tampere:
- Men: 1. Oula Jääskeläinen, 2. Jari Kauppi. No other competitors.
- Women: 1. Tiia-Riikka Pietikäinen, 2. Elise Ahonen, 3. Elina Hänninen.
- Pairs: No competitors.
- Ice Dance: 1. Susanna Peltola / Petri Kokko, 2. Susanna Rahkamo / Kim Jacobsson. No other competitors.
- Source: Siukonen, Markku; Ahola, Matti (1987). Urheilun vuosikirja 8 (in Finnish). Gummerus. p. 264. ISBN 978-951-20-2930-3.
December 9th and 10th 1989 in Tampere:
- Men: 1. Jari Kauppi, 2. Marko Kuukasjärvi. No other competitors.
- Women: 1. Meri Karvosenoja, 2. Mari Niskanen, 3. Merja Heikkinen.
- Pairs: No competitors.
- Ice Dance: 1. Susanna Rahkamo / Petri Kokko, 2. Katri Uski / Juha Sasi. No other competitors.

Hi again! I made a correction to the results of ice dance 1987 . The yearbook had mixed up the two Susannas, but in Helsingin Sanomat I found the story that makes the obvious pairs clear: Rahkamo and Kokko were together in the season 1986/87 like they were already in the season before, and they won the Finnish Championship in December 1986. Also the story about Susanna Peltola tells that she has only one Finnish championship in ice dance, and Suomen Taitoluisteluliitto lists the champions correctly . MOS
Hello. First of all thank you for your hard work on figure skating related content. It is very impressive.
I urge you to check out MOS:GEOLINK where it states
- Paris, France (
Paris]], France)
Wamalotpark (talk) 06:51, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- And I urge you to recognize that nowhere is [[Paris, France]] prohibited, since France is not linked. Bgsu98 (Talk) 06:52, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- [[Paris]], France is preferred as it links only under "Paris", there is no "France" in the article's title. Wamalotpark (talk) 06:53, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- Any major article uses the [[Paris]], France, style. The only exception I have seen are articles that you work on. It would be preferred to match other high quality articles. Wamalotpark (talk) 06:54, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- Not only that, it follows the manual of style more closely, allows readers to understand the links they are clicking easier (cities that are major vs smaller and need state/country disambiguation), and allows for linking of countries that do not exist anymore such as West Germany after say, Berlin, which is allowed. Wamalotpark (talk) 06:57, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- I think we can work together to make these articles better, and more consistent with the manual of style. How bout it? Wamalotpark (talk) 07:05, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

User:Gog the Mild: Thank you so much! By the way, what's going on with Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Figure skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics – Pair skating/archive1? I know there's no magic number, but I'm unlikely to wrangle any more reviews. Bgsu98 (Talk) 11:52, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Japanese battleship Kirishima/1
I think you should consider self-reverting this GAR closure - a cursory check of the article history shows that extensive work has been ongoing to rectify the identified issues, including a number of substantive edits in the 24 hours before your closure. GAR closers should be checking both the article history and the GAR page itself for progress. Hog Farm Talk 01:57, 14 April 2026 (UTC)

FAC Review Request
Hi there, I have an FAC open right now that could possibly be archived this week due to a lack of reviews. I know you're active on the television side of WP as well as good/featured content so if you have a moment over the next few days, I would appreciate a review. No worries if you don't have the time or aren't interested. Thank you, TheDoctorWho (talk) 19:23, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- User:TheDoctorWho: You know I would be happy to! Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:51, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- User:TheDoctorWho: I have the following up for review as well if you are so inclined: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Figure skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics – Women's singles/archive1, Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Austrian Figure Skating Championships/archive1, and Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Polish Figure Skating Championships/archive1. Bgsu98 (Talk) 22:25, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Re the removed message: You did in fact just review a list for this series 😅, I cranked that out and nominated it shortly after I opened the FAC. I will try to get to your featured noms sometime over the next ~three days (the grind never stops grinding).

Lichen GARs
I've reverted the notifications on Esculenta's talkpage, they're automatic notices but this feels like WP:GRAVEDANCING for someone who isn't even fully blocked. Regarding the noms, I would steer away from conscience-related rationales. While such arguments have been made in many of the llm-related discussions, they were not as far as I remember deciding factors in the resulting closure notes, and it seems likely the community was more easily unified behind the issues with content. CMD (talk) 03:09, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
- I certainly have no objection to removing those notices. I don’t think there is a way I could have processed the GARs without them being generated. I only submitted the first 12 even though there are a lot. The community can decide what to do with them, and since I opened the GARs, I won’t be the one to close them (whatever the outcome).
