ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:28, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
Please focus on article improvement
If you believe I should be sanctioned then you should open an ANI discussion yourself. In the meanwhile, it's inappropriate to smear my reputation as you've been doing for the past month and a half. For example, you said that I "went against consensus by putting in his/her preferred version YET AGAIN". That seems like a rather uncharitable interpretation given that it was a new version crafted specifically in response to the request that we address who uses the term as a pejorative and given that it was backed by new evidence. Such actions bring us no closer to consensus. Weirdly, in deleting my work, you went against consensus reached months ago. The existence of that previous agreement was made plain in an edit summary only 3 edits before your revert.
A more productive direction might be to focus on content and sources. Uhoj (talk) 17:08, 19 November 2025 (UTC)

COI wrt Maduro govt
Have you yet declared your COI wrt the Maduro government? I don't find it updated on your user page based on the last discussion some time ago, and you just introduced POV content at Nicolás Maduro, giving UNDUE weight to one non-RS person's opinion in the lead, declaring that as the "stable version", which it demonstrably was not. Would you like to correct that edit? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:06, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

April 2026
Please don't change the format of dates, as you did to Fionnuala Ní Aoláin. As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based on either strong national ties to the topic or if the topic is tied to an armed forces. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.
For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please see this page.
If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. Denisarona (talk) 06:47, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Denisarona: I have no idea what you are talking about. I did NOT change any dates. I ADDED material three years ago. As far as I can tell, the material I added did not use a different date format used in the article at that time either, the text of which only used either years-only or months-year, but not specific dates--except the references. Did you address the wrong editor?
- Are you familiar with Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars? --David Tornheim (talk) 03:51, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- You added information in the lead containing this since August 1, 2017, despite the article having this instruction at the top og the lead. Regards Denisarona (talk) 06:07, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- Despite many years of editing, I have rarely noticed the "instruction" of {{Use dmy dates}}.
- Most articles on en.Wiki I have edited use the U.S. standard-style dating, probably because most editors, like myself, are in this horrid country. I have certainly encountered articles with the European-style, and generally didn't try to change them, as I am aware either style is fine as long as there is consistency. And I certainly have never looked for that template, because it so rarely ever comes up. I just follow what is already in the article, and the format was not in the text of the article--only in that template, which I had not seen or looked for.
- Given that it is an article about someone in Ireland, I could see how the D-M-Y format may be preferred. So I am happy to honor it. I will follow it and try to remember to look for those templates.
- Still I think you could have assumed good faith and not templated me and accused me of "changing" the format which I did not do. I simply didn't follow the instruction which I had not noticed. Something more polite like, "Perhaps you didn't notice the template at the top of the page that uses the Europenan system of dates for this article about a person in Ireland. I have changed the dates to follow that format. Thought you should be aware. Thanks." --David Tornheim (talk) 06:32, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
