Re Draft:Juliana_Okine
Hello Dianna: I saw that you had removed the song lyrics from Draft:Juliana Okine a couple of days ago, because it was in violation of copyright. I actually took it from a Twi (one of the Ghanaian languages) article on Julie Okine (the same person), which was referenced. I do have another secondary source that gives the same song lyrics in English - which I have already used a reference. In your opinion, would that be OK? And please be assured that I am not arguing with you over the copyright call; I am a librarian, and am very aware of the issue. I am doing this article as part of a Wikimedia Ghana User Group on women highlife musicians - and sources for the topic are not exactly so straightforward. Thanks for your support and understanding, with kind regards AbrewaAccraLady. AbrewaAccraLady (talk) 11:55, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
Specific question re kids.kiddle.co; general question about best forum for discussions
I often see an entry in Copy Patrol with the source material comes from kids.kiddle.co.
I don't know a lot about that site but I surmise it is attempt to create an encyclopedia directed at kids with material largely copied from Wikipedia. I haven't checked but I assume that's all legitimate.
However, I haven't quite grasped what it means for something to add material to a Wikipedia article and source it to the kids site. I would've expected the material added to the Wikipedia article 1st and then someone would either copy of as is or rewrite it in a manner suitable for kids, but that shouldn't trigger a copy patrol report.
I've tended to ignore these entries as I don't quite get it, but there are quite a few so I'm hoping you can enlighten me on what's going on or more importantly how they should be handled.
Current example: Article Tommy Prince Source https://kids.kiddle.co/Tommy_Prince Diff https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=1346900262
As a related point I have often thought there ought to be a noticeboard to generally discuss copyright issues. I am aware of Wikipedia:Copyright problems, but that seems to focus on specific problems not a forum to discuss general handling. While the instance is arguably a specific example, I'm increasingly concerned about the use of overly long quotes and would like to have a discussion about general handling so that all volunteers could chime in. Does such a place exists and I'm just not aware of it or should something like this exist? S Philbrick(Talk) 15:28, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Sphilbrick. That's a good question(s). I find that the CopyPatrol report lists Kiddle as the source, but if you check the actual edit, you will see that they cite a different source: Moose Jaw Today. The current revision of the Kiddle page does not include the content in question. My guess is that the iThenticate report has found the match in an old revision of the Kiddle page. (Unfortunately the current CopyPatrol system does not provide a date for the source, which might make our hunt easier. And Kiddle.com is excluded from the Wayback Machine.) (Also as an aside: Kiddle sometimes copies from Simple Wikipeda, not en.wiki)At the bottom of the Kiddle page, there is a clue: you will see a date of 17 October 2025 as the last update. Checking the Wikipedia article I find that the revision dated September 21, 2025 does contain the content, albeit without a source. So someone removed it from the Wikipedia article at some point, and the current edit adds it back in, but with a source. So to sum up: some but not all Kiddle content is copied from Wikipedia. Kiddle does not display the current version of the en.wiki page. Not all Kiddle content is copied from us. Kiddle is a wiki, and cannot be considered a reliable source for that reason.Regarding the excessive use of quotes, there's no firm limit in the non-free content policy as to how many quotes or how long of quotes are allowed. I sometimes remove large quotes/too many quotes as excessive, or add a maintenance tag. We had a big discussion some years ago regarding Balfour Declaration, see Talk:Balfour Declaration/Archive 2#Use of quoted material but we lost that argument. There's still a huge amount and number of quotes in the current article, which passed to Featured Article status with a shocking amount of quotation.Where to discuss quotations? Wikipedia talk:Non-free content possibly, or WP:VPP possibly. I gotta go now; I have RL things that require my immediate attention. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:41, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
Casualty figure clarification 1983–1986 Kurdish rebellions in Iraq
The article lists at least 110,000 killed and 1 million refugees l in the infobox for the 1983–1986 Kurdish rebellions. However the refugee statistic appears to include displacement dating back to 1971 which predates the rebellion itself. Similarly large casualty estimates in the range of tens of thousands are generally associated with the later Al-Anfal campaign (1986–1988) rather than the earlier stages of the Kurdish rebellion. It may be helpful to clarify whether these figures refer specifically to the 1983–1986 rebellion or to the broader Iraqi–Kurdish conflict including the Anfal campaign Masare012 (talk) 17:29, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
Dried fruit - History
The dried fruit history section contains a large segment plagiarized from this source. It appears to have existed unedited for well over a decade. I was unable to isolate the editor or date of the original plagiarized text. How does one do this?
Thanks for checking it. Zefr (talk) 16:56, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Zefr:, page stalker here. When you spot apparent plagiarism in a Wikipedia article it can mean that a Wikipedia editor has copied text from elsewhere, or that the author of the other piece has copied text from Wikipedia. The blog post is dated 11 May 2016, so I checked the Wikipedia article version of 8 March 2016 and the content was already present so it appears likely that the blog post was copied from Wikipedia rather than vice versa.
- There is a browser extension called mw:Who Wrote That?, which allows you to see which editor wrote what. TSventon (talk) 20:55, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
Discussion Regarding draft:SBI Card
Hi Diannaa, as I have created the draft as per the conversation with Sandstein this, but I don't know why you are deleting the draft again and again. During the afd discussion RS was not found by the editors, now I have found some RS, and making the draft to improve the page to submit for review, with the new in-depth, independent news references which are by-lined by journalists. I would like to request you not to delete the draft and let me submit this for AFC as per my conversation with Sandstein. Imnemo123 (talk) 18:40, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
- I have restored the most recent version of the draft, which has only one citation. Good luck— Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:55, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

Karunamayi Copyright
Hi! i saw the message left on my talk page and am wondering how to proceed. im guessing that certain sources do not allow direct quotations.
instead i need to paraphrase, interpret or re write the information so it does not exactly copy (even with quotations) the original source material.
please let me know if that sounds correct.
thanks J929 (talk) 15:12, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- The material I removed was not quotations, because it did not have any quotation marks. Everything you add to Wikipedia should be written in your own words please.— Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:18, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- not sure i follow.
- do i need to rewrite anything now or has all the material been removed?
- can i rewrite material to have it added back in?
- is the article ok as it is now? or is rewriting necessary? thanks!
- as well , once any rewriting is done, how to move forward and make sure the page is up to specs?
- thx J929 (talk) 15:28, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- as well what specific source is in copyright violation?
- thx J929 (talk) 15:29, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- I removed the copyright content. You can summarize/paraphrase the material in your own words and add it back in. The content was found in the article by Vasudha Narayanan, "Karunamayi, Sri", in the source book Holy people of the world: a cross-cultural encyclopedia. The portion that was flagged was mostly short snippets and a couple of longer segments: "is also known as Bhagavati Sri Vijayeswari Devi (The goddess of victory)", "the Hindu goddess of knowledge, speech, music and art", " Vijaya Dashami (The victorious tenth day) during Navaratri (a Hindu festival to honour the goddess Durga), which is considered to be one of the most auspicious days of the Hindu calendar","When she was about twenty-one (June 9, 1980), Sri Vijayeswari is said to have left home in order to go to the remote forest of Kanva Ksendra (Penusila Kshetram) in Andhra Pradesh (south India)." — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:54, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for your time and the clarification, it helps alot. i was un aware of this and hence dont want to repeat the same mistakes.
- just to be sure, as of now, the article is good as it is?
- obviously will re write/summerize etc in order to remove any existing potential problems -and smooth out the article, but just want to make sure if theres any thing else that needs to be done.
- thanks again! J929 (talk) 09:47, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

Seeking help
Hello @Diannaa, I am an emerging community member of wikipedia. I wanted to learn some tools from you like CopyPatrol, CVU, etc. Would you like to help me for this!. As you have reported many copyright issues, you seem very much expert in it. I would like to know the steps you follow to stike those last edits and even warn users performing copyright violations. Is there a tool you use to do so or you do it manually. Thank you so much. I'll we waiting for your reply. Regards, VerdictByLogic - Let's Discuss 12:20, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:53, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
Al Jazeera Media Network
Do you have any examples of how Wikiquote or Wikisource is used to save these quotes? Since it's a controversial topic, I like to preserve as much information as possible. 🐈Cinaroot 05:08, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Potential copyright issue
Hello, I had query about potential issue with copyright and an editor by the name of OSINTsparrow. You warned them about copyright violations last July and there are several other warnings about violating copyright on their talk page including as recently as December from another administrator User:DMacks. In many recent edits this editor has copied sentences or even paragraphs from a book and added to an article verbatim without attribution or rewording but they have just placed quotes around the text such as in the following edits to Douglas MacArthur, Civilian, Napalm, Gulf War and Implementation Force. These are just a few examples. There are quite a few edits like this to the Korean War including: , , . They also made this edit to War Crime. This one is slightly different but there's no source but it is again a quote lifted from somewhere and it was this page they edit before where they were warned about copyright in December. I wasn't sure if these types of edits were potential copyright issues but I thought I'd ask. ~2026-23860-11 (talk) 13:07, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, that's a good question. If it's got quotation marks, it's not a violation of the copyright policy. If it's got no source, you could add a
{{citation needed}}tag or remove it. If there's excessive quotation in any given article, please consider adding{{over-quotation}}at the top of the article. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:32, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
