WP:ECP gaming

We have filters that detect when users are making pointless edits to gain WP:ECP status. Please don't do that; we can revoke ECP status if it is achieved this way. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:59, 26 January 2025 (UTC)

sorry I added the image because it was present in another wiki, the portuguese one, and I've thought that I could add it even in eng wiki. Endricklamar (talk) 12:02, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
My message was not about an image. I was referring to prose that was a match for content found at https://insightcrime.org/news/brazils-drug-war-costs-favela-economies-millions-study/Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:23, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
sorry I was answearing another thing and I've answeared the wrong one. Anyway, I've readed the key points and I'll not do it again. Endricklamar (talk) 12:40, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Endricklamar, this is a continuation of the issue raised above by Diannaa several days ago. The final bullet point on her post to you is Copying and translation within Wikipedia. Please review the page on Copying content within Wikipedia.

With this edit, you have taken content written by other editors (that requires attribution to those editors) from another article. This is a different type of copyright violation; that content should not be attributed to you, rather the authors who wrote it at Proposed United States invasion of Venezuela. The WP:CWW page explains that you must attribute the writing, and how to do that with an edit summary. I will next add a template to the talk page to correct that error, except that ...

I'm not sure an entire article was needed for three new sentences, but I don't have time to deal with a merge proposal on top of the copying within. Please be sure to attribute in the future when copying the work of others editors. If you have done this sort of copying within Wikipedia elsewhere, that means all of your edits need to be checked. I know, but it was essential for a background about how it degenerated to the naval attack. I'm sorry Endricklamar (talk) 23:05, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
It was more background than necessary, and you must use an edit summary that attributes the writing of others, with a link, whenever you copy within. Have you done this elsewhere? If so, you need to go back and add a template as I did at Talk:Proposed United States invasion of Venezuela. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:11, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
I do not know how to do it Endricklamar (talk) 05:49, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
Here's the template I added as an example. The parameters are the article you copied from, the article you copied to, the date, and the oldids. Do you know how to find an oldid? (See Help:Oldid.)
But ...
I had to add {{Copied from}} to the article's talk page only because you didn't attribute in the edit summary when you copied the content. It would have been much easier for you to attribute in the edit summary when you first copied the content to begin with. (See here.) That is, when you made this edit, where you copied the work of other editors:
... you should have used an edit summary that said:
If you had done that, then you wouldn't have to add anything to the talk page. By providing a link back to the work you copied, you are giving attribution, and then you don't have to do anything else.
Does it help to read this page? Would it be easier if I explained in Spanish? Let me know if you need more help, or if you need me to add a template in another case where you copied. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 06:48, 3 September 2025 (UTC)

Latin Times

Please see WP:IBTIMES and International Business Times. The Latin Times is an IBT paper, and is not a reliable source. If it is the only source mentioning something, that something is likely WP:UNDUE. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:28, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
