Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editingespecially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringeven if you do not violate the three-revert ruleshould your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Tharoor was a source material for the page on Jawaharlal Nehru before I expanded the article. I would like to see a discussion where there is a consensus that Tharoor is to be avoided? In addition, Tharoor follows scholarly material, including Nehru's autobiography and other works. If there, indeed, is a consensus to avoid Tharoor, I can put those sources instead. In any case, Thaoor is not the only source I cited; I include other relevant scholarly material. Lastly, the lead has been expanded to reflect the main body of contents. I can't agree with your justifications for reverting my edits. Exdg77 (talk) 19:58, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

I have started a discussion on Talk:Jawaharlal_Nehru. You will be happy to know that Tharoor has been completely replaced wherever I cited him with scholarly alternatives. Exdg77 (talk) 03:27, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Important notice

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Daniel Case (talk) 03:16, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Nehru

Removed from the Talk:Nehru page and pasted here, as this is more personal.

You shouldn't make edit runs over long stretches of prose with no edit summaries to speak of. Contrast that with the two sections I edited for prose (only) and the detailed summaries. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 20:56, 25 January 2025 (UTC) I've just read your edits: There are errors.

  • Your first sentence is, "Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad, British India, as the eldest child and the only son of Motilal Nehru (1861-1931) and Swarup Rani Nehru (1868-1938)"
  • No one is born as the eldest child; that is an epithet others bestow on a child when siblings appear. :*Similarly, no one is born as the only son (for the same reasons).
Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:05, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
  • @Exdg77: I hope you don't mind this criticism; it is not a criticism of you, only constructive help, so you and others may be mindful of some things.
  • Second sentence: "He was born into an affluent Kashmiri Pandit family, which included his two younger sisters, Vijaya Lakshmi (1900-1990), and Krishna (1907-1967)."
  • Being born into a family references the people already existing in the family, not those who will populate it later.
  • The sisters, in any case, did not make the family affluent. Had you said, "... an affluent family, which included Jamsedjee Nusserwanji Tata, the Nawab of Hyderabad, and Maharaja of Kashmir," it would have made more logical sense.

Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:12, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

  • Third sentence, "His father, Motilal, was a wealthy English-educated barrister who wanted to bring up his son in the model of an upper-class English gentleman."
  • You can't raise someone "in a model." You could say, "in the manner of an upper-class young English gentleman." But that is not helpful either because it is not accurate. I'm sure Motilal had more complex motivations.
  • Looking ahead at your other edits, I sense that you might be tackling too complicated material. If I were you, I would work on biographies of ordinary people for which there are only one or two sources. Then, I would submit that biography to WP:DYK and wait for suggestions for improvement from the referees. That is how I started life on Wikipedia. It is the best way forward. If you are interested, you could post on WT:INDIA and say you want to work on small-scale biographies and invite suggestions from editors there. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:39, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
    All the best. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:42, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
Reply to your Talk:Nehru question. Yes, sandbox and talk page would be certainly better, but at WT:DYK you would get more focused suggestions (made by people who are more experienced). But I do think that you should start with less complex biographical material (than Nehru's); otherwise, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. All of us began with simple articles and then worked our way up. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 21:52, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
@Fowler&fowler: Hi , thanks for taking the time to offer advice, this is much appreciated. I will go through your feedback and consider how I can contribute. Exdg77 (talk) 08:45, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Jawaharlal Nehru, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brill. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:58, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Jawaharlal Nehru

Hi, I have warned the other editor who is in conflict with you over edits to this article. I think it would be helpful if you read Wikipedia:Dispute resolution, particularly where it says "through gradual editing, discussion, and attempts to understand the legitimate objections of others." Graham Beards (talk) 14:03, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

Additionally, regarding your editing on the talk page, please comment on the content of edits rather than on your beliefs about their private intentions or thinking. Continuing to focus on editor rather than content like you did in this comment will likely result in sanctions under the Arbitration Committee's contentious topics procedure which |applies to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 08:33, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for reaching out. I think that user should have been banned due to his ill-behaviour over the past 3 years. I would rather not waste time with such people. I have more important things to do right now. I will come back to the article on Jawaharlal Nehru when I have the time. Exdg77 (talk) 08:50, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
User:Callanecc Having reviewed my comment, I find your lack of comprehension troubling. I commented on the "content of edits". Can you please clarify your assertion that I had a "focus on editor rather than content".Exdg77 (talk) 09:18, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Some examples for you: "I find your lack of comprehension troubling", "The user:Fowler&fowler has a problem with the lead specifically. They are happy to let others edit the body, but jealously guard the lead", "I contend that user:Fowler&fowler has a very poor understanding of Indian history". Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 09:24, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. I would appreciate User:Fowler&fowler responding point by point to all the issues that I raised, rather than relying on others to make ad hominem attacks. I find that further discussions with you shall be rather unproductive. Goodbye. Exdg77 (talk) 09:26, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
