Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I commented on the talk section and now can't even see the comment. What happened to it? Jlherman324 (talk) 05:09, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Hi, I removed your comment since you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days to edit in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict topic area. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 05:27, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Is there a way for you to retrieve it and send it to me -- I spent a lot of time writing it Jlherman324 (talk) 05:29, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Absolutely. You can find your comment here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AZionism&diff=1240209875&oldid=1240086144 - IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 05:33, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. Final question -- if I have suggestions that would improve a controversial article but don't have 500 edits -- what is the best way to communicate them? Jlherman324 (talk) 05:41, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Find an EC editor willing to do it for you. (By which I mean, do it in their own name, not merely relay your opinion). Selfstudier (talk) 08:33, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
You may find WP:EDITXY useful. Sean.hoyland (talk) 08:58, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
@Jlherman324, refer to WP:ER. That is the only acceptable method for your to post on article talk pages that are in the WP:ARBPIA topic area, until you have 500 edits. TarnishedPathtalk 09:49, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Why did you not find it constructive? (Admittedly I made a mistake on the name of her spouse and have now fixed it) Jlherman324 (talk) 04:00, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Seeing you reverted the correct name as well, I'm curious what your objection was? Jlherman324 (talk) 04:02, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

Montana Tucker moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Montana Tucker. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 06:53, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Longhornsg. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Longhornsg (talk) 23:39, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

Thank you. I restored the edit and provided the reference. Jlherman324 (talk) 01:08, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
No you didn't. You provided a source, not a source supporting everything what you want to add. Do not revert my edit again. Add sources. Please familizarize yourself with WP:BLP and WP:RS. Longhornsg (talk) 01:11, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes, I did. Please read it -- around the 10th paragraph -- "He asked, she answered: On Horn's 22nd birthday, April 28, Schulman told her they were going out to dinner but didn't say where. That evening he came to her door with 22 roses--and an envelope." Her birthday is identified as April 28 in the Harvard Crimson. Jlherman324 (talk) 01:14, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
I see you have now reverted another of my edits on a different page saying again to add a source -- this time there was a clear source there. Jlherman324 (talk) 02:24, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
