Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Issam Makhoul, new editors (those with fewer than 30 days' editing history and 500 edits) are not allowed to edit topics that have any relation to the Arab–Israeli conflict, which this article falls under given you have repeatedly attempted to add that his (and his wife's) nationality to Palestinian.
Your account name also suggests a WP:Conflict of Interest; if you have links to Maki, you should not be editing any article relating to the party. Number 57 14:31, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- I do not have any links to to Maki, the name is just a name I picked for the new user, I would not think my picking of a user name would weigh on whether I have any conflict or not. His wife is palestinian nationality/ethnicity by any source, even listed by her hebrew wikipedia page https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A1%D7%95%D7%A2%D7%90%D7%93_%D7%A0%D7%A1%D7%A8-%D7%9E%D7%97%27%D7%95%D7%9C , and countless other sources, she is a israeli citizen with palestinian nationality, and her art and work revolved around this identity, as was he - if needed i can source this further, but i do think the current sourcing should be enough, let me know if further citations are needed or if I should rephrase it to Israeli of Palestinian ethnicity or something of the sort.
- Do you mean to say that any person of Palestinian origin or any public Palestinian-Israeli figure falls under the "Arab-Israeli" Conflict? I did not edit anything regarding the conflict, only personal additions based on cited sources so I do not think this has something to do with any conflict.
- On the MK Box, please let me know if I need to change the box format to anything else in order to add the sections I added, his political positions are important to list, and I only used fields from the Infobox officeholder template as listed. The current infobox is lacking in a lot of information, for example:
- ""
- Faction represented in the Knesset
- 1999–2006
- Hadash
- ""
- Hadash is not a faction is a parliamentary list and social organization, this does not give any information on which positions he held within Hadash or Maki, or who he represented in the Kneset (Except a "Faction")
- All the information I added is vitale, if the issue is with the formatting then please let me know which formatting is needed, since I only used fields from the Infobox officeholder tempalte to fit in the different positions. CPI1919 (talk) 14:47, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- Anything that is related to the conflict, which would include claims regarding nationality.
- 'Faction' is used by the Knesset itself and is common across all articles on MKs; I think this is a matter of semantics.
- I do not think that the thing you were adding to the infobox are 'vital'. Number 57 15:47, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- I agree that the 'faction' terminology is largely a matter of semantics. However, following the suggestion that we consult before making further changes, I propose adding the Hadash-Ta'al faction as well, as he officially represented this list in the Knesset, and there is already an English page for this.
- Regarding the infobox, I would argue that his roles as Chairman of Hadash and General Secretary of Maki are highly consequential. These are the two most influential leadership positions within their respective organizations. I would like to discuss a way to include these roles in the infobox that meets your approval. As for the Research Institute chairmanship, I agree it is a secondary role and can be moved to the 'Biography' or 'Professional Career' section instead perhaps.
- Regarding nationality: it is well-documented that they were Israeli citizens of Palestinian nationality. This is explicitly reflected in his own writings and public identity. I can provide the specific citations and primary sources for this if helpful. I am open to your suggestions on how to best incorporate this into the article-perhaps as 'Israeli-Palestinian' or by distinguishing between citizenship and nationality in the infobox-and would welcome your thoughts on how to move forward.
- Thanks CPI1919 (talk) 15:55, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello! Thank you for your recent contributions to Khamsin (magazine). I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Hi LevantineArchivist! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community.
The rule that affects you most as a new or IP editor is the prohibition on making any edit related to the Arab–Israel conflict, which includes discussing articles on talk pages, unless you are logged into an account that is at least 30 days old and has made at least 500 edits.
This prohibition is broadly construed, so it includes edits such as adding the reaction of a public figure concerning the conflict to their article or noting the position of a company or organization as it relates to the conflict.
The exception to this rule is that you may request a specific change to an article on the talk page of that article or at this page. Please ensure that your requested edit complies with our neutral point of view and reliable sourcing policies, and if the edit is about a living person our policies on biographies of living people as well.
Any edits you make contrary to these rules are likely to be reverted, and repeated violations can lead to you being blocked from editing.As you get started, you may find this short tutorial helpful:

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days, and you are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
